Done?

I'm posting this because I want some feedback from my fellow Evo owners. I am almost ready to do the final install of parts and go get tuned at Atlantic Motorsports in MD. Mike is a great guy and when I went there I saw him working on my car and tuning some other cars and from what I saw he and his crew are top notch!

My goal is 340-380 whp. I don't want to get the bigger turbo yet. I know I eventually will try for a FP Green, but that's later down the road.

What I would like is that you guys let me know if I am forgetting anything. I have read other people's build posts and I think I have what I need to achieve my goals.
Here's what's on the car so far:

3"DP
Stock Cat
3"Cat-Back
Oil Catch Can
Blitz Intake
Forge UNOS MBC

Here's what's in the garage:

GSC S1 Mivec Cams
Walbro 255
Muse Ported Cast Manifold
Titek 02 Housing
ARP Head Studs

Here's what's on the way by Christmas:

ETS 3"FMIC
ETS Short Route IC piping kit
ETS Mini Battery

My main question is whether or not I should get bigger fuel injectors?
If so, what size would be good considering the rest of my mods?
Also, should I upgrade the valvetrain?
I know that the S1s work on the stock valvetrain but would it be safer just to get the GSC kit?

I have TBE, Cone Filter, mbc and tuned....and my IDC is at 94%, which to me is a little to high so I will be upgrading injectors in the very near future.

So I would say with all the money your investing why not just get a set of 750 or bigger FIC's (depends what your future goals are) and they are around $300 depending on size.....Don't go cheap when it matters the most, fuel is the most important thing to a turbo car.

Have you ever logged to see what your current idc is with the mods you have now?

You will easily make your power goals. If you are planning on upgrading the turbo eventually, it doesn't hurt to upgrade injectors.

If you are planning on running E85 in the future with the FP Green, dont go less than 880's.

Wow, your IDC at 94% does seem pretty high. To answer your question to me, no I haven't logged to see what the current idc is. I'm assuming that it may be lower since my boost is stock and I haven't been tuned yet. When I got the MBC installed, I made sure that I didn't change the stock boost levels. My intake is not a cone intake, its the Blitz drop in. I agree with you 100% about the importance of fuel. So you think 750s are a good size? Thanks for your advice.

I'm not sure about using E85. The only gas I put in the car is 93.

It's about to become readily available in our area. It's something to look at considering it's alot easier than alky for about the same power.

What all needs to be done to convert an Evo to run on E85? Isn't it corrosive to rubber and other materials used in our fuel system?

Double pumper fuel pump and bigger injectors. Talk to Peter at ISP about it. They have tuned a bunch of cars on it.

If the above is all you're planning on, you don't need to bother with bigger injectors at this point in time. (Stock turbo, stock injectors. Upgrade turbo? Upgrade injectors.)

Travman, yeah, your IDC is pretty high, but I don't notice a Walboro in your list of mods- go get one. When KevinD was tuning my car, he hit a wall at 24 PSI where he just could not get any more fuel into the cylinder. After putting in the fuel pump, he was able to take it to 28 PSI without issues.

I know that, but would it add a margin of safety or just be a waste of money? I guess I'm trying to figure out if the cams will wear out the stock valvetrain prematurely.

Yeah I was going to say. Are planning on getting a test pipe or HFC?

I was told by a tuner that there's not much difference with a HFC. To get noticable differences in power you need a test pipe. Unfortunately, no test pipe because of emissions amd VA cops.
