my first snow with the evo.... with advans
i dont understand how people are always posting about how they magically spun out when they were doing the speedlimits and all that crap....
i had to drive home from work and to work this morning in snow, on the stock advans. i had NO problems what so ever driving to work. never did the car feel like it was going to lose control or anything. and i was doing the speedlimits....
oh and the tires have just a little over 11,000 miles on them too.
i know that if there was an emergency situation, like someone slamming on their brakes, i would not be able to stop in time... so i dont drive my car at all unless its to and from work....

How much snow were you in, though? I drove mine once in the snow and decided I was never going to do that again. I don't drive like crazy, either.
We just had 9" in Chicago the other day and are expecting an additional 4" tonight, then more on saturday and then again on tuesday next week. Time to break out the snowboard!

The piddly inches we have right now in our area are not that much a problem, though the advans are hardly good for it. Wait until we get like 8 inches of wet and/or packed snow and try driving through it. Err, try stopping in it and getting going again
You'll see just how amazingly poor these tires are for those conditions. They just aren't made for it.

this guy is not smart at all driving in snow on summer advans. the next thread from him will be "I got in an accident.."
the only reason why you made it safely was because you did not have to brake or turn. When you do I assure you, YOU WILL loose control with those tires on there.
be smart and get winter tires.

the evo will not stop with summer tires on it in the snow.. if you decide to keep driving in the snow with these.. pull the abs fuse. youll have more car control, and youll save someones life.

I took my Yokohama S drives out yesterday and they really surprised my. When I go to turn they push for a second then grab. Easily correctable...turn in advance?
Took them out in an empty school parking lot before I went all banana sandwhich just to see how careful I really had to be.
They are really predictable in the snow for being ultra high performance summer tires.
Now how these tires handle compared to the Blizzaks I don't know because I've never driven an Evo in the snow with them equipped.
Were supposed to have an inch here in the valley and a few inches up in the Mtns tonite and tomorrow. Looking forward to driving in the snow and taking some pics! I would never drive on summer tires in the snow though.
The Advans suck *** in the snow. Very hard to get a spin going, just kinda slides and the ABS pulses like crazy when you are trying to stop. Lightyears away from the Talon in the snow. I suppose I should just order a new set of All Seasons tomorrow.
It's night and day. Trust me if you plan to dive in actual snow, you need to invest in winter tires like WS50. Advans are horrible in snow/sleet/ice/winter.
