evos are too damn heaver and have no TQ!!

sorry this is just a rant.

today i was on a HUGE STEAP hill. and the evo just has no power at all before the turbo. with a awd system and such a heavy car the evo should have came with a bigger engine.

the hill was so steep that I could notgo slower than 10mph. as soon as i wnt slower to about 5mph the car just did not have any power or tq to accelerate to its power band. then when i come to a complete stop, its almost impossible to get going again cuz of the huge hell and tiny engine. the only way to get moving again was to slip and burn the hell out of the clutch untill you were up to 10mph. that one hill made the car stink of burn clutch for days.

the evo is just a DOG before 1500 rpm
anyone else have problems with huge hills?

never been on a hill that steep

fun fact: 08 STI has a "hill assist" that helps prevents you from rolling back on an incline...now that is sweet stuff

Or ride the clutch a little on take off and get the revs above 1500. I know exactly what you are talking about it and face it everytime I leave my driveway. Its all about knowing the problem and not lugging the car. The only other choices are an auto or a diesel.

the car isnt geared like a honda.. buy on of them, there light, geared lower, and you can get an automatic.. your driving a rally car, not a honda.

Actually Evos are alot lower geared than a honda but they are heavier.

its not about learning how to drive you ***.
its about the car being heavy with an awd system and having no power and tq at all at very low rpms.
all that and being on a real super steap hill and your fu*cked.

if the car is going 5-7mph already in first gear and cant even accelerate and is loosing speed because of the hill. how the hell are u supose to take off from a stop with out murdering the clutch

You can always bump up the displacement for a little more torque. When I first dropped in the 2.4, I could immediately tell a difference in off boost driving...

I think your turbo is the problem. I have a stock turbo and battle hills daily with no problem. I can imagine having a bigger turbo would make it alot harder for an Evo to crawl up a steep hill.
