the evo is just a DOG before 1500 rpm
anyone else have problems with huge hills?
Thats why i love my Cummings Diesel and over a 1000 tq I get up on a steep hill and barely touch the gas and she rips

Just takes practice. My driveway is so steep that the front lip barely touches when transitioning from the road (stock ride level). I almost have to completely stop when going up it. At first it constantly pissed me off bogging when trying to go up, but after a little practice I don't even notice that I'm doing anything diffrent. It just goes up the hill no problem.

Seriously. Besides, Subaru doesn't compare.

The evo is a street-prepped racecar.
The STI is a race-prepped streetcar.

Enough said.

it's a low compression 2.0 4 cyl you can't expect off idle torque like a V8 or anything like that if it came with a bigger engine it wouldn't have the ability to rev high and take advantage of large turbos.

on a steep hill, you would be in 1st or second @10 miles an hour. plenty of power for a hill in any car. driver error perhaps? i live and drive in san francisco/bay area. i got plenty of power for those hills. the flat hills in l.a. are for noobs.lol. i would have to say learn to drive a stick.

Winner of the dumbest thread of the day award!

Know your car. Take a look at your Torque/Horsepower per RPM graph and then tell me why you had no power at 1500 RPM.

It's easy; really.

I'm basically implying that Subaru decided to take the WRX to the next level with increased suspension, drive train control, etc.. They also decided to bump up the displacement since they did not need to follow the homogenization rules for WRC(group N I believe?) and they were having issues getting it passed on emissions.

Where as, the Evolution starts off; not with a lancer, but the lancer chasis & frame and builds from the ground up on that. They keep true to their JDM-ness as much as possible; obviously somethings cannot be imported to the U.S. due to patents or agreements.

Of course, I could just be talking out of my ****. But I like to think of myself as a JDM braveheart.

try going up the hill backwards - it's even harder I got a solution - save some more money and buy a GTR as the 3.8lt engine should help out in steep hills - even if you have to go backwards...

The new GTR is nothing like the R33, R34. This new one is no technological marvel. It's nothing short of a winter-vette. fftopic:

or

Learn to balance your car with the clutch and acceleration pedal so you smoothly accelerate with as minimal clutch wear as possible.
