the hill was so steep that I could notgo slower than 10mph. as soon as i wnt slower to about 5mph the car just did not have any power or tq to accelerate to its power band. then when i come to a complete stop, its almost impossible to get going again cuz of the huge hell and tiny engine. the only way to get moving again was to slip and burn the hell out of the clutch untill you were up to 10mph. that one hill made the car stink of burn clutch for days.

the evo is just a DOG before 1500 rpm
anyone else have problems with huge hills?
Evo owners ***** too much.

Call this the dumbest thread you ever read if you like. However, the thread originator is correct. There are some steep places you shouldn't go with your Evo.

My sister lives on top of a mountain just outside Rocky Mountain Park. To visit her I leave the pavement and climb this narrow and steep dirt road. In places I have the accelerator floored in first gear. Still the car barely makes it up there. Then I have turn around on her very steep driveway. By the time that is accomplished most of my clutch is smoke.

What is embarrassing is that my sister's subie with an automatic, trucks around up there like it is flat land.

So, my advice is to heed the originator of this thread. If it is a steep, slow drive, don't go there with your Evo.

fun fact: 08 STI has a "hill assist" that helps prevents you from rolling back on an incline...now that is sweet stuff
I had an 06 bmw M Coupe that did the same thing.

Please buy a v6 accord. I heard they have tons of low end torque.

coming from Florida where the toughest thign i've ever driven up is going up into a steep parking lot......

It is a challenge but a local when i drove to wv told me to get to get a little sideways int eh lane if its big enough so i can start rolling basically nowere but still in my lane to get little speed first...

granted you cant do that int he city, but in the mountains with a exedy twin took a little getting use to since usually i dont even need to touch the gas to get the car moving... i jsut let off the clutch and it jumps forward smoothly

Good luck!

I think if we can drive a EVO we should be able to comprehend how to drive up a hill, or find a way around it. This isn't a EVO only thing, common sense. If you can't do it, don't buy a manual car.

For those of you guys that find it hard to drive up steep hills, is it also difficult to drive downhill because the Brembos are too big? Just curious
