The Official 50k check in!!
All the problems, wear and tear you mention below don't really count, b/c you didn't own the car to begin with. therefore, problem w/ tranny, seats should last longer than 50k. My 05 MR has 42k miles and my car still looks, feels like new, your 03 evo has not been well taken care of, this post is not accurate for potential evo buyers.

DRIVETRAIN: (All Stock, except for ACT clutch)
Grinds when cold, 5th gear grinds, somewhat notchy, clutch chatters but does hold strong with no slippage, not sure of mileage on the clutch tho.
Transfercase is shot, whines through all gears all the time, although the interal and external seals have been replaced. Other than that nothing else to report.
INTERIOR:
Drivers seat shows some wear, im not a big guy so its holding up ok. The side bolster is broken and tends to click around if you lean on it just right. The center console suede is wearing, floor mats are wearing in typical spots. All dash lights are still bright, and my A/C knobs all function as they should. Stock HID bulbs are still bright and not burnt out.
OVERALL/ MISCELLANEOUS:
The car still feels great!! Plugs and timing belt will be done soon due to the mileage. All fluids have been replaced with stock fluids, including mobil 1 oil every 3 thousand miles. The car is lowered on GF210's with the stock struts/shocks, but they still seem to be ok ( no leaks, and not too bouncy). The sunroof is broken tho which sucks!!
This thread is for potential buyers of used/new evos just to have as a reference to how the 03's are holding up. Of course its not the highest mileage evo but I hope it helps comfort some people.

71,000 miles havent had any major problems because i replaced alot of things at 60k. Did timing belt balance shaft belt, water pump, clutch, all the tensioners and the accessory belt
My 05 evo has almost 50k on it and is holding up awesome! Had a clear-bra on it since day one so the paint is mostly perfect, replaced clutch at ~30k miles along with all the fluids. Car makes ~335whp on dyno dynamics, full br stage4 + alky and some other fun stuff, and I use all of it every day. Very reliable and just keeps me happy!
over 55k miles here. The car was basic with bolt ons making 400awhp/400tq till about 50k. Since I have installed bigger turbo with supporting mods for fuel. Made well over 500awhp.
I had to rebuild the tranny once. but that was for the 3rd gear syncro problem. I havent had any issues with motor at all. Seat bolster on drivers side is getting a little soft for getting in and out. Clutch was replaced for the higher hp obviously.
Besides that, no problems with the car's electronics, motor, or interior.

I bought it with 61k in June and I'm now at 68k in December.
When I bought it, all that was done was an MBC, and Tein S-Techs. I've done a TBE, cone filter, BOV, DIY catch cans, MR tails, Vortex Generator, and other misc. stuff.
As far as maintence goes: Trans, Tcase and rear differ fluids changed at 62k. I've replaced the timing belt, balance shaft belt and tensionor at 64k. Threw my first p0300 at 64k. Went home, changed the spark plugs gapped to .026, reset the ECU and no misfire/p0300 since then in the last 4k. I've changed the oil twice since I've had it, and put gas it it about 31 times
As far as the clutch goes, I have no idea. I bought the car used, and with the mileage the car has I'm going to make an assumtion and say it's NOT stock. But no slippage or any weakness so far. I'm going to leave it go until it starts slipping

^^^how does it not count buddy? I am reporting the condition of the car after 50k miles, regardles of who owned the car, the condition is still the same. Its actually been well taken care of seeing as how there is not a single scratch on the vehicle and the only true problem is the T-case which is known to fail regardless of proper maintence. Stay out of my thread!
Your 05 MR is only 2 years old, mine is 4, so your car better still feel new or you have more problems then everyone in this thread combined!!

20k+ and no problems....
i think a lot of these problems are caused by the way people drive the evo and the upgrades they do....example...launching, more hp and torque, etc.
that's what causes stuff to break like the clutch going out and t-case going out
especially at such an early mileage....take my advice...if u want ur evo to last then keep it stock...otherwise breakage is on the way...which means you have to spend more money to keep it running....if you got the money then no big deal...but i suggest if your gonna change stuff then change everything in the car
i guess i'm one of the few that will being leaving their evo stock....i mean if my clutch goes out at 50k i'm gonna fix it then trade it in....that's rediculous...i mean i can understand that if you're racing the car every weekend or something...but mine is just a dd so i better get more than that out of a clutch...i guess i've been spoiled by hondas, toyotas, and nissans ...hardly anything ever broke...if it did it was very minor and cheap to fix

68k plus. demo car for mitsu. I knew the orig owner from day one and I am the second to enjoy this car. Orig owner bought with 2k of VERY hard driving thanks to everyone that has ever wanted to test drive an evo. I love my car and has been very reliable for a car that has been driven with all intentions to enjoy it to the fullest I also am very **** about vehicle maintence and try to stay ahead of any problems that may occur. Typical problems, just replaced floor mats, need consol lid replaced and the seat is getting worn.
