Official EVO Insurance Thread
I just had my heart broken. I've been saving up for an Evo for about a year (I don't like owing money). I figured I would get pretty good coverage for cheap with USAA. I just went on there and they quoted me $692 for a 2005 Evo 8.
I honestly can afford that, but I don't want more than half of my income to be on my car (Insurance, Gas, Car Payment). Looks like I might not be getting an Evo afterall.

I pay about $434(~$72/month) every 6 months for my 06 evo IX MR with USAA. 30yo with a clean record. Depends a lot on where you are too, high crime area's...more expensive. In Georgia where I bought the car it was $800+ every 6 months, switched it to Florida with in a couple weeks and it dropped to about$380 every 6, but then went up for some new hurricane protection crap. I miss Japan where I paid $300 a year for my skyline, and it went down 10% every year for not getting in an accident and not getting caught speeding. Though tickets are more expensive there 136 in a 60 is a $800 ticket.
anybody from NJ please tell me what you pay! I am looking to get an evo i have a decent making 500 a week so paying for it shouldnt really be a problem. btw iam 18 and I am not just looking at evo's either
Just saying you are married helps a lot. On my last car, my insurance dropped by 300$ a year just because i changed status from Single to Married.
Anything over 100mph can be considered Wreckless Driving. Unless you are the best talker in the world, chances are you'll be spending the night in jail.
Some city and county law enforcement departments have a no-chase policy, so you take your chances. Just remember even with that, you cant outrun a radio.

An example of this. I was headed back to Reno from Vegas. If you've ever driven this stretch of land, you know that its wide open desert, flat, and straight. I was cruising along at about 130mph. I blew by a cop, and he started to come after me. I knew I could run and had a fair chance of getting away providing they didnt have another one waiting for me miles up the road. I chose to slow down, pull over, and wait for him to catch up to me.
He told me the reason for not taking me to jail was because I stopped. Sometimes even when they can take you to jail they dont. A little respect can sometimes go a long way.
