My agent quoted me $359/six months ($59/mo) last week for an '06 under my dad's name (49, 1 at-fault accident). We have Farm Bureau w/ multi-car, multi-line, and farm discounts. It would've been $600+/six months under my own name (23, squeaky clean record). I love my dad.

It's all b/c you live in NYC. I did a comparison when my roomate from Long Island and I were discussing insurance rates. I ran a geico quote with everything the same and just changed location and going from Jersey one of the highest insurance areas in the country to Long Island the insurance almost doubled.
For reference, I'm 21, I pay ~$1250/ 6 months for the Evo (under my mothers name) and my eclipse w/just liability under my name. I think it's about $850 and $400 for the Evo and Eclipse respectively
That's crazy, shop around

I'm lucky to be covered under a state farm family plan where we have 3 cars and each driver has to be insured on 1 car, so I'm insured on my dad's beater mercedes... But I've seen articles and such on how the Evo is one of the top priced cars for insurance exluding the super cars... But yet when I've done recent comparisons it seems to be that at 25 with a perfectly clean driving record the Evo is exactly the same as a 2007 G35x... And here we seem to have some mixed answers as well... So maybe the articles are based in the Tri-State area? And I'm in po-dunk Utah where you're lucky if your Civic gets stolen?

Ill just point this out, its late...havent read the whole 3 pages...but an insurance company would be out of their (...) mind to cover an old lady, blue hair in all, and an Evo (or any sports car). Think about it, what would an old lady do with a sports car...not like we are talking about Grandma Andretti here...
