snow hit harder/earlier than i expected this year and i have been on summer tires. let me tell you...scary as hell! I just got some blizzaks lm 22s but now i hear that the ws-50s are better(and cheaper!), did i make a mistake or are the lm 22s also good?

i got nokian hakka RSI's... heard many good reviews. Now I can't wait till it snows lol

There should be some kind of a pop up window that comes up for newbies on the forum to change their summer tires. It just seems like people don't get it that the stock advans are not to be used at all in winter weather. who knows, maybe some of the accidents will stop

Lm-22. The Ws-50 got better reviews. However, Just because the Tire Rack says the 50s are the best, it doesn’t mean that you can take corners at 60mph in icy conditions.

first thing ive owned 5 cars NEVER have i had to go out and buy snow tires!!!!

can i handel driving in the snow? YES!!! its just a little tricky

this seems a little bit more then just needing snow tires, but ok ill go out and get some.

i think that the problem is more with ACD control i can drive MUCH better and have MUCH more control on tarmac....... the SNOW setting is HORRIBLE

thats what i dont understand, regardless snow tires or "summer tires" shouldnt the ACD still function the same???????

Tire manufacturers clearly warn you NOT to use summer tires like the stock Advans on snow or ice.

It doesn't matter if you have the most trick AWD system in the world, without the right tires you're just asking for trouble.

Also, you probably did not have Yoko Advans on your previous cars. For a street tire they are extremely soft and the tread pattern is suited for dry pavement. They are horrible in the snow.

Did you read the drivers side door label? The car comes with summer-only tires. Chances are you have never bought a car that had summer only tires on them. MOST cars come with all season tires, that is why you have never had to change the tires. Just go get some snow tires and you'll be fine. The ACD always functions the same. The settings just control the speed and strength of the center diffs locking characteristics. I'm sure you can drive in the snow (you like in NH after all). Tommi Makkinen couldn't drive an Evo in the snow on the stock Advans let alone any of us.

^^^^^

I already don't like the guy. He's driven 5 cars.....big whoop! He must be experienced.....Better yet he must be 16 because every 16 year old kid thinks they have been through it all. I know I thought that way when I was 16. Luckily I drove a 1995 turbocharged talon tsi and that was worth $6000.

Yeah, the stock advans are like 10x worse than any other summer tire in snow/ice/freezing weather. My summer tires on this car when I bought it were much better than the advans when it started getting cold. But no where near as good in the dry. And like they had said, most cars, especially new ones, come with all-seasons.

If he doesn't have an accident with another vehicle and hurt someone else. Dude, stop being ignorant and be a little responsible.
