OK I HAVE READ ALOT OF PEOPLE TRYING TO TELL YOU WHAT IT IS AND YOU NEED TO LISTEN

I have lived in Alaska for four years now and can tell you with plenty of experience that tires are the number one difference in any car whether its a freakin Evolution or a POS. I am not saying you have to buy blizzaks although they are the best for ice and ok for snow. I have driven on kumho ASXs and they worked fine when they are new. As for your having 5 other cars and driven in the snow 90 percent of the cars come with a more season friendly tire meaning they'll do ok in the winter. The EVO did not come with all season tires they are for summer only period if you value your life, your car, and other peoples lives go get some more reasonable tires. Hell the coop tires are better in the winter then the advans.. The sticker was put on the door to cover Mitsubishis butt when you come in and complain about loosing control on an icy or snow covered road. The stock advans are not even very good in the rain. I am not picking on you I just think you need to think about what connects you to the road. Also just because get snow tires blizzaks or whatever does not make the car handle like its summer time again there are still limitations. That is why high horsepower RWD drive cars do alot of spinning at stop signs. Thanks

Also you do not pump the brakes in a car with ABS. The system does it for you thats the whole point of ABS and pulling the e-brake is a mechanical brkae it will just lock up the rear wheels so if you werent sliding you will be.

I'm not sure how much more can be said, it's up to him now to take this advice and do something about it.

Autoilluminate's advice is good if you don't have a lot of cash, the Sumitomo HTR+ can be had for well under $100 per tire and you can use them year round. They will be much better in the snow than the stock Advans.

Dude (majinjeff), I don't know why I'm helping you out here. Frankly, you're pathetic.

Read and pay attention ... No, look this way and read my every word.

No traction = No control. Think hockey pucks. Hockey pucks = Advans. They SLIP and SLIDE on anything frozen.

What's the opposite of slip and slide? G-R-I-P.

Speaking of grip, GO GET A GRIP BEFORE YOU KILL YOURSELF AND YOUR EVO - WHICH YOU DON'T DESERVE.

Lastly, don't forget this: We, most all of us here, ARE TRYING TO HELP YOU. LOSE THE EGO. YOU CAN'T SAVE FACE ON THIS ONE.

Only you are to blame. Not the tires. Not the ACD. YOU. Y-O-U.

this seems a little bit more then just needing snow tires, but ok ill go out and get some.

i think that the problem is more with ACD control i can drive MUCH better and have MUCH more control on tarmac....... the SNOW setting is HORRIBLE

thats what i dont understand, regardless snow tires or "summer tires" shouldnt the ACD still function the same???????
You must be the most moronic person on this forum. You have a big reflective sticker on your door which reminds you not to drive the car with the OEM tires. Plus I don't know how long you have been driving but there are completely different classifacation on tires. Those tires as for any high performanc summer tires are not really that effective when there is snow and when he ambient temp drops to the 30's. But your getting butthurt cause everyone is making fun of you. Yeah the ACD helps alot but the tires do the most of the work. Do us all a favor trade your car in for a Civic Si very nice car comes with all season tires and is slow enough that you don't kill yourself your not ready for EVO power yet

Sorry I came off like a jerk check this comparrison of OEM and winter tires.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...S&startIndex=0

I got these tires and I live in Yonkers, NY look it up on google the second most hills in the country. Anyway when I got these tires we had a bad snow storm. Rain, to freezing rain, then snow. I was shocked I was able to climb hills when SUVs were sliding all over the place. Just click on the link and you'll understand. But next time instead of getting upset read and listen we all have been doing this for a long time

if you read about the advans or really any summer tire, when the soft compound on the tire comes to an environment with 32F or lower the soft compound turns very hard acting like someone said before "a hockey puck" When i bought my car in Dec 04 the first thing i did within 48 hours was get a good pair of all-season tires and keep those advans in the closet for the summer where u will get the most fun out of them. Just forget the insults and switch tires, if you have traction problems from there u just driving too fast and unsafe.

Hey, can we wait like vultures for parts?

As a former DSM'er, I am quite good at cannibalizing for parts.

NO!

your traction is only as good as your tires. Your yokohama tires are NOT rated for weather below 45 degrees (or something like that) and they are NOT rated for snow at all!

get some all season tires before you wrap you brand new car around a tree please

dude, why are you being so stubborn? Even though we are taking pot shots at you, look past that and realise this. Your or someone elses lives might be saved with the recommendations in here. By now hopefully you have read the sticker on the driver door that was mentioned here 100 times already. So, you know we are not bull******g you. Like someone said the manufacturer put it there for a reason and this is one that U SHOULD LISTEN TO. Forget all the other cars you've owned before................none of them were remotely close to the EVO. Now go get some snow tires or park the damn car until spring.

IF ALL ELSE FAILS..........SELL THE CAR. You would be doing other motorists a favor.
