I have searched and have been a lurker for quite a while and have not seen one of these threads so calling all EVO experts. How can you tell which version of the EVO it is. Is it the RS, SE, MR etc.

 

I cannot really understand what you're asking...

 

Look for the badge.

 

if it has a 6 spd its an MR. If it has a 5 spd and automatic windows its either a gsr or an SE. (SE if the seats have red stitching). If the wondows have rollers on them instead of buttons then its an RS.

 

RS= No wing, black door handles and side mirrors
SE= Lip on the front and some more stuff that i dont know much of
MR= 6 Speed, Vortex generator on the back of the roof

MR = black BBS rims, 6 speed
SE = Chrome BBS rims, SE lip
RS = roll up windows and black handles and no wing.

 

While your all right, it wont help you much.

Why?

Because people buy wings on RS's, people put Vortex Generators on GSR's, and anyone can buy an MR Badge and slap it on the back.

So the answer? You can't tell.

You can get inside their car and look for a 6-Speed shifter for an MR.

Look for manual window rollers for an RS.

And neither of those 2 and it's a regular GSR. Get it?

another thing i also noticed is MR version has the black housing head lights and the tail lights...is that true or do other models come with them also??

 

Who cares what model it is; it's whats under the hood that counts!

no, they all come with the same headlights and tails, the darker housings are just the JDM versions..

 

wow, this thread struggles.

 

reason why i ask is after finally having the funds to purchase this beast. I dont want to buy a "mislabeled" evo when Im looking for a MR originally and end up with a SE or GSR. I already kno people shave emblems and reattach emblems. Just dont want to get screwed over when looking for one. Thanks.

 

For an MR just look for a 6 speed no reshaving emblems and reattaching emblems can hide that. I do agree with you though I have an SSL package but it was lacking the infinity sub and HIDs(Knowing what your looking for, my Wife bought mine for me while I was Iraq thats how I came up short).
