Does the COBB TBE drones at freeway speeds

I have heard that the COBB exhaust is pretty quiet at low speeds but how about highway speeds. Does the COBB TBE drones at freeway speeds around 70-80 mph? How about 60 mph does it also drones at those speeds? I am talking about the full TBE with test pipe (N0 Cat).

Subjects are not even close. Sorry if you think they are the same. I will be buying the exhaust tomorrow (Jan 2) and so far I have not get a clear answer but just opinions. And I have had my evo for just 6 weeks and want to take an informed decision.

the only thing I have heard about this exhaust is that the fitment is very poor

I have a buschur bullet catless tbe on my car now and with the windows up and the stereo on you can barely hear it

now when I had my sti with an invidia catless tbe the droning was unavoidable

Fitment is great, and it doesn't drone.

Would you be able to take pics? Just curious on how it looks as an exhaust, and on the car from different angles.

I thought i said this in the previous thread......I get no drone at 60mph with the windows up or down.........at 80 mph(I haven't driven that fast on the freeway for extended periods to remember a whole lot) it has never caught my ear at all to say..."it drones"

Like I said before....if I were you...since you already purchased WORKS pieces just finish it off with the WORKS catback.........who know what type of issues you could get fitment wise by mixing up the pieces..

CPA5,

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will finish it with the WORKS cat back like you are sayin. I have also found some info that the works does not drone either but a little at higher speeds (like 80 mphs).

I did some measurements in photoshop and it looks like the works resonator is longer than the COBB unit and the area/volume of the WORKS canister is about the same maybe a little bit higher than the COBB so noise level should be very close based on resonator and muffler size. And if it is too loud I can always change the axle back with the Stealthworks Muffler.

I like better the COBB tip because it is smaller and the canister is oval and not round so it looks more stock but firment should be better if I go full WORKS. I will post results when I get the parts. Thanks everyone for the info.

Any one measure the inside of the muffler to see if it is 3" straight flow through?

You can measure by taping something 3" in diameter to a stick and sticking it in. As long as its a straight path you can test via this method.

I have the COBB tbe and no droan here. Hell I turn off the radio just so I can listen to the exhaust notes, thats the real music to my ears

I was going to go with the WORKS exhaust, but not for that price. As far as fitment issues, not here. I would recommend it to anyone that wants a top notch TBE system.
