I never had a wing (I have an RS) but I still get stopped a lot in it compared to when I'm driving other cars. I can't imagine how it would be with the wing. Of course I should probably quiet down the exhaust (nah...).

FWIW, I firmly believe that having a relatively quiet exhaust keeps me from attracting even more attention especially from the fuzz.

Dont buy an evo w/ a wing if you dont want the attention, nor dont buy an evo at all.

Well I havn't really noticed any extra attention. When I first got the car I did but between having the wing off and on I never noticed cops taking second looks, etc. I seem to have gotten the same treatment regardless or whether it's on or off.

Like this one time I got pulled over for street racing but we where both in Evos and both had wings at the time so I guess it balanced out because he let us off with a handshake.

Then the other day I got pulled over without the wing because I was sideways in the rain and had no exhaust and apparently it was loud and irresponsible.

Either way, I think it depends on what you're doing as to how much attention you'll get. Deleting the wing hasn't helped me in that category, but I sure do like it more.

are you getting less negative attention, i.e., cops and rednecks in trucks etc...

funny the redneck thing was mentioned, some jacka$$ in a 1990s dodge 1500 put it in first and started slamming on it when i was cruising next to him. little did he know i have 8 confederate flags of my own hahah

I've always thought the wing-less look was so much better looking that with the wing on... I even thought that about the 2g's DSM's.

Since i took my wing off I just notice that less people talk ****. Also looks cleaner but the loud exhaust does not help with the low profile look.

I think they only look good wingless when they have a JDM rear.

Well wing or no wing for me I still get stopped by the cops just about everyday that I drive it up here in IOWA! I got 5% window tinit on all windows and a loud catless exhaust from AMS. So needless to say when I removed my wing it didn't help me that much.

Last week I installed new coilovers and some 18x9.5 +28 volk ce28s wrapped with 265 nt05's. I figured I would remove the wing since I've always liked the look. Well in the past few days I have had more revs and stares than I have had in the past 2 years owning my car. I honestly think the stance of the car has more to do with attention than the wing.

There are so few EVO's here in Canada, that most people including most cops wouldn't know what it was...they would probably take bigger looks at the Mustangs, Chargers, etc. I only get a few guys looking over and drooling at the car, although last week that all changed. I was driving down a 60km street. I noticed that a police cruiser was driving next to me and looking over the car. Then he went behind my and obviously was checking out the licence plate...next he comes back beside me and he goes exactly 60km and I can see him punching in something into his computer. He was certainly checking out the car all the way down the 10 blocks and it was unsettling. I'm sure the wing attracted his attention and obviously he then knew about the car and probably was checking for speeding tickets or theft, yet I'm female and don't fit the typical description of a car thief. I've never had that kind of experience ever in my life with any other car...it makes me think about getting rid of the wing, yet it looks so good! What to do???

I removed the stock spoiler for a few reasons:

1. The carbon fiber clearcoat began to fade after 4 years, and I didn't want to bother with re-clearing it and didn't want fading cf on my vehicle.
2. People who aren't very familiar with the evolution or sports cars in general (note: most people in society) tend to think of the wing as "2 fast 2 furious" and ask me why I put on such a big wing (thinking it is aftermarket).
3. I think the car looks very classy without the spoiler.
4. I was able to sell the used wing for cash.
5. I don't believe it serves a purpose until you get into high-speed cornering/drifting. It's a daily driver and although I like to take corners fast, I don't take them THAT fast (keep in mind, the car is AWD).

And that is why I turned to the dark side.

LOL. I mentioned to a friend the other day about my experience with the cops checking out my car. I said I was thinking about removing the wing and he said the wing was needed for stability...I gave him the same argument that I don't race it so don't need the big wing. As I said, I just love the look of the big wing...too bad cops aren't busy looking after all the other crimes in the world...they are too busy looking for speeding ticket $'s to meet their mandate $'s, so they focus on us who have the cars that look like they could get more of them.
