After i invested in the JDM evo 9 rear i took the wing off. I like it both ways, I just recently purchased a Rexspeed c/f wing to take its place. As far as the neg. attention goes i wouldn't let it get to you, Do what you like and as long as your not breaking the law as far as the cops go you should be fine.

 

yea my car has no wing. i get no attention from cops just people? compliments

 

I had an RS first and I liked the look of having no wing for the IX.. I want to get mine off now because of the lack of rear view with it on.

 

not going to lie with oem wing at certain moment in time it does block stuff in back window. but a evo is not a evo without some kind of wing. I really dont like any wingless evos. i upgraded to the riser apr gtc 200 and now im happier and i can see out the rear glass easy now. the arch of the spoiler is perfect.

 

my friend has the wing on his ix and took it off to get it repainted one weekend, and whenever we were in his car it seemed like even more ppl tried doing runs with us on the highway.. idk maybe they thought it was a lancer? lol

 

the only evo's i really like without the wings have a nice combo of CF trunks and jdm oem bumpers

 

Wing is just too "boy racer" for most us grey-hairs... and any true performance merit is WAY past go to jail time. However, everyone is entitled to their own tastes. Yet personal taste has jack to do with the thread topic.

Here, in Austin, Texas, going wingless most definitely knocked me right off the "radar". Literally, even with the SAME Cops who sit at the same locations. Those guys used to at least clock me EVERY time I went through there (high traffic 6 lane HWY). The second the wing came off, none of them even lift the freakin' gun anymore. Now these are the results here. Elsewhere, your local Law Enforcement Officers may not pay such close attention to our "type" cars. Hell, I don't even look down at the speedo hardly anymore due to the lack of interest. Even with my AS Evo with black wheels and a big shiny exhaust can. Got to love the stereotype!

 

^^^Well said Mr.Zeus......One of reasons I bought the RS......I felt I was a bit too old (Over 40 LOL) for the wing........But what really sold me was the crank windows & no ABS......Anyway, The wing is a beautiful piece & my 10 year daughter wants me to be a 2 deck lid guy (1 w/ wing & 1 w/out).....Recent pic......Peace
