How bad is the damage?

Over the weekend my Evo was hit while my friends and I were watching the Giants game. The car dented my rear quarter panel and scratched the rear bumper. Like many of you on this forum I am really passionate about the looks of the car. How bad is the damage and is it a common fix? I took it to a few local body shops and all were under my deductible for my insurance. So at least my rate will not go up.

It just really pisses me off and I am so obsessed with my car that I am loosing sleep.

I forgot to add a few of the body shops said that they can hold the body line above the damage and use that to blend the paint. What exactly does this mean? Will I be able to tell that it was resprayed in that small area? All also said they will respray the entire rear bumper.

When they re-paint for damage like that, they usually paint a larger area to fade the new paint in to the old. Stopping at the line created by the fender bulge will mask the paint differences since you won't be able to tell if the paint is different or if it's just how the light hits the fender. It sounds like the shop knows what they are doing.

Damn bro. I guess you don't know who hit you? That sux. I know when I was rear ended by a porsche at a stop light I was so mad I lost sleep too. Hope the damage gets fixed soon. repairs should be just under $1000. My VIII had similar damage. I feel your pain man. Hang in there...

So I might be over reacting a little? I am sure some of you on here have had similiar problems?

I already ordered my JDM rear to take my mind off of this a little.

When you got it back did it look like new? And thanks for understanding where I am coming from. To sum it up it feels like a bad dream.

It would be cheaper to blend the paint than to repaint the whole panel but I could always tell if paint was blended. Its pretty obvious.

Is it because the paint doesnt match? As in the contrast - it maybe darker where he tries to blend it to original?

Usually the paint is a good match, but the clear isn't... Our factory clear "yellows" slightly after 2-3 years... Its never gonna be perfect though, thats what does suck about being damaged... I just had the drivers side of my car redone after a mishap with a deer... Its looks really good, and was about 5K in repairs... But even then, there is a tiny spec of dust here and there in the clear... Oh well...

That sucks, it kind of looks like they got a piece of your wheel too, did they? Also rocking AO46's in cold weather is a big reason why people total these cars...
