Overall, the IX is better than the VIII. It comes with more power from the factory and responds better to mods than the VIII. But, they are both great cars
In MOST cases, that is true.. but there some exceptions...

Over 18,000 miles and it runs perfectly... just maintain it properly.

I used to own a '95 eclipse gs-t and that car was full of problems. This car is problem free for me, so far. One of my co-workers has an evo 8 with over 40,000 miles and it runs perfectly, too, and he beats the crap out of it.

i forgot to mention that i don't beat on my car. Drive it reasonably, maintain it and the car will last a long time. Sure you'll get the small little squeeks, quirks but it's just small stuff that will go wrong with ANY car.

I have a 2006 Tarmac Black Evo IX MR with SE appearance package. It is completely stock except for a JVC KD-NX5000 Nav headunit and a drop-in BMC airfilter. I still have the stock radio and stock paper air filter if interested. 6,400 miles on the clock.

I can start taking deposits tomorrow.

Yeah right... I ain't selling.

The Evo is totally reliable, I now have 20k on mine since my very first post a while ago in this link. Now I dont beat the hell out of the car by any means but I do get on it a little every once in a while. Read my first post in this link and it will give you an idea of how solid of a car it is, BTW I have had ZERO problems with my car since finally getting my clutch adjusted right..... (The 1st post I put in is long so be prepared but good info on strength.)

^^^ agreed. It's like people forget where the car came from. One of the reasons for it's success in WRC's was because of it's overall build quality.
