So the rust is happening in the sheetmetal (i.e., not where the holes are drilled)?

i didn't take my wing off but i from what i can tell from the picture from zbomb it isn't from the drilled hole. i think it is just luck that it is close in line.

I have the same problem, I just took my spoiler off today and found something I didnt like

I knew that I had a little rust, but when I took the spoiler off I found more than I thought. I talked to local mitsu dealer a couple of months ago and they said that It would not be covered cause It was not all the way through the trunk lid. I think I might have to bring my car up there and show them it again.

The only reason to take an Evo's spoiler off for good is to put on an even gaudier one! Think of it as Evo-agra.

rust FTL. it seems to creep around every car... just under the wing. what's the harm of bringing it to Mitsu. worst case scenario..they wont warranty it. also it depends on the dealership sometimes.

The rust happens with or without the wing. Removing the wing only exposes what is already there.

Mine just wore the paint off down to the primer. All I had to do is touch it up.

Its covered under the corrosion part of the warranty, iirc.

Also, when closing the trunk lid, don't slam it. Adjust the striker so that you can push the lid down for it to latch.

If you want to get real... keep the bottom of your car touched up, fender wells, and remove your bumper covers to respray.

If you remove your rear cover, you will not believe how badly its rusted. I had to respray mine.

Mine looks pretty close to post #34. Car isn't under warranty anymore. Suggestion on what to do/how to get it fix anyone??....as far as paint, someone point me in the right direction where to get a can of apex silver for less besides calling up the dealership.

Good advice, I didn't even think of that. I'm sure the downforce/wind is causing the spoiler to rub etc but also using your spoiler as a handle for closing the trunk is probably not the best idea heh.

hmmmm i wondering if mines like that. Are you guys using doubled sided tape and bolts to hold the wing down? or else just the screws, the wing will wear through the paint....and rust

Heres another thought, Take the wing off when you first get the car, throw that ugly *** peice of **** wing in your closet, wax and enjoy many many years of a non rusting, gorgeous wingless trunk
