just got an EVO VIII need some advice

i got an EVO VIII a few weeks ago and it had a Greedy Profec B spec 2 boost controller. I dont really know exactly how to use and it is giving me some problems, i also just figured out that i have a boost leak and i know its some where in the throttle body.

if anyone has any advise for me i would really appreciate it.

Evo's are prone to leaking:

One of the not so obvious problems (like ic pipe coupler leaking) is the throttle body shaft seal. http://www.worksevo.com/store/produc...roducts_id=415
For $20, its a good piece of mind

that EBC is sort of a pain in the nuts, but i had to get my throttle body shaft seal replaced as well. I had a shop do it for me, just because i hate messing with the TPS sensor.

this shouldnt affect your EBC too much, just because your boost controller will keep iterating to maintain full boost setting, but you def. will lose boost up top. I think i still have the starter settings here somewhere, but post your settings and how much boost you'd like to run.

profec b is junk id take it out and go a different route. I've had 2 buddys end up blowing a engine cause the solenoid got stuck open and boost went threw the roof.

If you want an EBC, there are better. Did it have a boost gauge to go along with the controller?

I have the same boost controller and it's been working fine for me, you just have to play with the settings untill your happy with the response. My buddy and I spend about 2 hours doing 3rd gear pulls to set the high setting, the response was good and boost climbs really fast, it peaked out at 24.6psi tapering to 22.5 to 23. we still got alot of tweaks to do but have to wait for better weather the low setting I left the same as the high and is working fine , the settings I used are
GAIN- 16%
SET GAIN-73

I've always had good luck with my apexi avcr. yeah it takes a little bit longer
to get used to than the average electronic boost controller but well worth it
as far as quality and performance.
