How much power is TOO much power for a DD all season EVO?

I was curious as to how much power is too much power for an EVO VIII to have if it is going to be a DD and all season car... What would it take to achieve this at the safest level (I don't mean pig rich)... and what are the draw backs to this kind of power? I would think that AWD or not, too many ponies will send ya into a tizzy.

IMO, anything over 400whp. because to achieve over 400whp you will probably need something bigger than a 20g, which would just be tons of lag and be annoying for a dd. just my 3 pennies.

I disagree, it's 14,999 when you start breaking things and finding yourself in a ditch...

question is, if you have the power can you stay out of it so you don't rack up tickets?

I have a DD evo with a 35R + Meth. Not to bad if you ask me. 450+AWHP. Also in regards to the lag. Drive in a gear lower so the RPM stays up. Then there wont be to much lag at all. Just my .02

From a 2.3/2.0 30R/35R turbo owner, 400 is too much.

if you have to drive in the snow. I would say 400 or less. if no snow. 500+ can be a fun DD

+1 on that..... I'm at the 500+ mark and honestly, dont use all of it.....

on a daily drive my RPM's are well below 4000 RPM's anythign above that will get me a speeding ticket real fast.....

but knowing you have all that power there to use if reassuring when you need to lay the smackdown on someone.

I just got my Evo in October and I would say that for a daily driver I am nearing the end of my modification path already. Much more power and it gets to be too much of a beast for the regular road. But that is all a matter of taste.

The drawbacks are mostly like the one guy said, poor fuel economy. But I love driving my Evo every day and experiencing the exhilarating feel of the powerful acceleration. Much more power though, and I feel like it will be harder to control in traffic, etc.

That is my two cents.

My goal for a daily driver is just 400 whp, im at 365whp now, so with race gas or a meth i should be able to reach 400 whp on a dynojet. Thats plenty enough power to run strong 11's all day and great for auto-x.

over 450 is becoming a problem defenietly. But i would say the best around 350-380 whp.

I would say its' what the driver feels comfortable with. You can have all the power in the world but if you shift before the turbo spools then you will still have moderate fuel economy and still only use about 150hp in that 4cyl engine. With my old setup with 480whp the car was fine in the snow. Although I do recommend a closed wastegate instead of open dump if you upgrade the turbo. Main draw back to that is 20-30whp.
