Going from a Supra to an EVO for a DD

I have been daily driving my BPU Supra for a while now and I will be purchasing an 06 EVO MR next weekend because of the warranty, AWD, I think its a neat car, etc. In your guys opinion will I like it and will it still feel somewhat powerful to me even though it is bone stock. Opinions/recomendations are more than welcome on this and thanks!

you will enjoy the driving experience more; however, it will be very different from the supra.

hmm if you are coming from supra crowd, I'd doubt that the bone stock evo 9 will feel somewhat powerful.....but if you do basic bolt ons on Evo 9, it will be nice, I cant say its FAST, but it will fun for sure

Like the supra, the Evo is a bad DD because of the amount of attention you'll get from the cops and ricers. Gas Mileage isn't great. It's a cop magnet, especially with tint and exhaust. ESPECIALLY in VA! So my advice is get it, it's fast enough for the street bone stock (a tune will open a IX up alot!) and it's a much more practical ride than the supra. You'll love it in the winter and once you get tuned, you'll love it even more.

do not by this car for a warranty unless you plan on leaving it 100% bone stock

supras dont really get attention from police unless you have some gaudy wing or orange paint with flames shooting from your exhaust

Yea I think I will enjoy the driving experience more too. Is the MR edition a good call for a daily driver? and I also have been leaning towards the IX because I here the MIVEC is nice.

I went from a single turbo third gen RX7 to the Evo. Yes, it's a much better daily driver, much more convenient but really slow in a straight line comparatively. Handles great, almost as good as the 7 although I could feel how much higher the weight is on the Evo vs. the 7. Easier to drive and do stupid stuff with too, almost drives itself. You'll enjoy the handling aspect coming from a Supra but will be underwhelmed by the power (well, BPU Supras aren't really that fast so maybe not ). Even stock however, the Evo launches HARD. But the top end just peeters out. It's great having a real trunk and four doors. They're dead reliable when stock too (at least mine has been).

I'd say it's more daily driver friendly than my EVO 8 was. The 6 speed makes it nice for crusing around town in. If your not planning on making gobs of torque or lot of autox the 6 speed will hold up fine. The Bilsteins are also very forgiving if the roads aren't too good in your area. And yes the MIVEC makes the low-end torque a little better.

I still don't think it's a good DD though..I rather putt around in my 240. Mines too loud, too much gear whine, solid mounts, etc etc.

I have the VIII and compared to my VR-4 it's slow as hell. But I don't plan on keeping it stock, supras are nicer and faster in my opinion but to each his own. Good luck with the purchase!
