I have been in the market for a Evo IX for about a year. I liked the low key look of the RS and overall has a nice clean look so I was leaning on the RS. So today I gave in and purchased a 06 Evo IX RS with 23k. It is in excellent shape and had no mods done to it that I could tell. It had new Yoko ES100 tires on it as well which was nice living in New England since the stockers are not very good in the snow. Plus I can grab a set of summer wheels later and have these for winter. It also had a nice stereo. I will have to add power locks though
Ok, now the hard part, lol. I payed 27,352 out the door
Not sure if that was such a good price, but around here Evo's are actually going UP in price Plus I had to get rid of the Honda Minivan at a 3K loss so buying one from a private sale was going to be a pain in the butt. Not to mention if I sold the van on my own, the availability of the IX RS without mods/low miles may not come for some time after leaving me with no car.
Anyone think I'm a moron for jumping on this, or did I get a fair deal?

Thats the thing, around here if your in the market for a Evo you are going to get hosed. The same dealer had a 03 VIII with 50K on it and sold it in less than a week for 24K
Infact there was a guy driving up from NJ to buy the RS, but I beat him to it. It's crazy.

man its a 9. The new x's are out and they are High. Plus they suck and are slow. And I am almost positive that they won't respond to mods. If they do. My Bad(Dont think it will happen lol) Don't worry if you paid too much. You know have one of the last of the Best Ever Evolutions. And personally i think it is probably the best ever. So nfw you didn't get screwed.
It is supply and demand. That is how they can work with these. Plus, I would prefer to pay a bit more for an unmodded vehicle than buying a vehicle that could have been modded by a complete idiot.

you are clueless, look at the AMS evo X threads.... add a boost controller on a exo X and they put bigger #'s down then a stock IX. Just a mbc thats it, and you have 10+ more hp than a IX.... this however doesnt mean 1/4 times are faster due to weight ect... but they are responding very well to mods. AMS already has a mbc, FMIC, LICP, Mini Battery, and many many other parts in works including turbo kit
