Can I do better selling my Evo?

Just got back from the local dealerships. One of them will get me a decent deal on a new blue X with SSS. MSRP-$500(owner loyalty)-$1300 for tag/title/license. That is pretty good for the Oklahoma market since we only have 6 or 7 Evo X's on the lots in state.
I have an Evo IX SE apex silver with 9000 miles. It is bone stock and has one dime size door ding on the driver's side rear door and a scratch on the rear bumper cover near the wheel well. The scratch is about 2" long but pretty skinny but gets wider where it gets closer to the wheel well (about a dime size amount of damage altogether on the bumper cover). I used touch up paint and acheived a smooth finish but the color is not a perfenct match. The door ding would be a paintless dent repair. Everything else is perfect inside and out. They will give me $25000 trade in.
But my question is this. Do you think I can do better selling it on this forum? Would anyone buy it for $27000?

Any help would be appreciated.

I think with that low mileage, definitely worth more than 25k.

I think $27K is def a reasonable asking price for that car w/mileage. However, it certainly would be easier trading it in. It's up to you if think you can sell it in a relatively short amount of time for that price.

Don't jump the gun, in the end patience will save you money. Take your time and sell it privately for what you want, then get the new car.

I know that I can sell it for more privately. But how quickly, and would the difference be worth the hassle? Looking at Autotrader, the average for sale price for an Evo IX with less than 15000 miles and leather (to capture cars that are SE, and unfortunatley MR which may skew the price) is $29,600 with the high being around $32,000 and the low in the $25,500 range. But how quickly could I sell a car like mine if I posted $27,000 as the price? What would be a quick selling retail price? (Please don't put $15,000, I need real input).

Thanks

For the extra money your going to get I would just trade it in. You pay less in taxes and you don't have the hassle of waiting for a buyer. If you can get them to come up another $500-1G trade it in.

I've seen this comment alot on the forum as far as paying less in taxes if you trade in your vehicle. Oklahoma's setup may be different. Can someone elaborate on this? Are you talking about paying less on taxes for the new vehicle because of the money applied on the trade in, or are you talking about having to pay taxes on the sale price of the car I would be selling? In oklahoma, you do not pay taxes on the money you would make on a used car sale and the taxes on the new car are based upon MSRP or purchase price before trade in I believe.

Thanks

No, I was refering to the money you have already paid on the car you have now. For instance: If I trade a car in and they give me $10G's for it, and the car I'm buying is $20K, I only have to pay taxes on 10grand.
Does that make it a little more clear? You've already paid the taxes on the other money.

About the taxes due for the "$25,000", Who pays it?
When I traded in my car and purchased one from the dealer; I did!
So is this correct? If so, then BEAWARE, you may have to come up with an additional $2000 for your trade in taxes, plus your new car tax and other fees.

I see what you are saying. I'm not sure if it works the same here. It may, but I believe that the state of Oklahoma gets you for taxes based upon the value of the vehicle, not the sales price. Thanks for the info. I think I will go ahead and put a feeler up in the "for sale" forum.

Thanks

trade it in, you will save a shi* load on taxes.

trust me.

we'll it actually depends on your payoff, if its paid off you will save on taxes, if you still owe over 20 grand just sell it on the street.

youre saving 1750 assuming its 7% by trading it... so it comes out the same basically...

I'm not sure if you can transfer tags if you sell privatly... but i know in fl its 100 for a transfer and i beleive 350-400 for new....

Even if you get shorted $1000 its worth the hassle alone.....
