HID not working HELP
Ok my OEM ballast burned out so i got an after market ballast. The wiring was simple, just two wires that connect to the two existing wires where the OEM ballast plugged into.
Before I did any soldering the plugged the headlight assembly into the car to test it. Everything was fine. So i soldered it and half way through putting the car back together I realized I should test it one more time...this time the bulb wouldn't light!
So after pulling everything back apart, I tested the headlight again. The bulb looks like it wants to light but it just buzzes, attempts to light, and go out.
I don't know what the problem is. I've searched here and on the internet and it sounds like it might be the bulb. I don't want to pull the other bulb out to test because anyone who has removed the headlights knows how much a pita it is.
Anyone with advice or experience with this is welcome.
Thanks you

WOW! someone went digging through old threads lol
I fixed the problem a long time ago. My problem was the the OEM ballast had a grounding strap that ran to the ballast and to somewhere inside the headlight. Well when i tested the hid the first time the strap wasnt touching the aftermarket ballast and it worked. But when i tested it the 2nd time when putting it together, the strap was touching the case which caused the problem.
So i guess i learned somehow not to use the grounding strap. Assuming the grounding strap is attached to the chassis ground, the aftermarket ballast probably wont work if its touching anything metal.
So dont ground the case of the ballast.
