how many miles?

Im looking to buy an evo, stock or with very little done to it. I was just wondering how many miles an evo can stand before things start to break.
I know there are a lot of factors to look at other than just miles but if you assume its stock or basically stock and not driven to hell but wasnt babied either whats a good range to be looking for.

We're starting to see many VIIIs reaching 100K with little or no problem. I've seen a 160K one for sale.

It is really about how you take care of it.

It is not a matter of how many miles are on the car that will cause the car to break down.It also has to do with how the previous owner drove the car.If they drove the crap out of it than the car will more than likely start to have problems sooner. If the car is well taken care of than it will last. You will probably pay more for an evo that has less miles.Just look around.be patient and find something you want.Don't just buy the first car that comes along.

Exactly as been said, you can find a 20k miles car so abused that could worth much less than a 80k miles car well preserve and well taken care of...
So, what you need to do is look around, do your homework and do some start shopping ...

exactly, people say mitsubishi don't have good reliability, but evo is different scenario. If you don't abuse the evo, and don't do crazy mods such as 37R turbo, I will last for sure.

yea i was just looking for a ballpark number for one that wasnt abused but since its an evo you cant expect that it wasnt pushed at least a few times.

I've always considered the Timing belt/Water pump maintanence to be the major service changing the car over to a truly high mileage car. Older hondas and Acuras change at 90k. Newer ones change at 105k. The Evo changes at 60k. Some will disagree but that says something to me. That's not to say an Evo with 30k that's been driven hard is better than an Evo with 90k that's been taken care of. It's really all about how it was driven.

how many miles do these cars last if well taken care of generally?? Would it be really hard to see 200k without major issues?

Its hard to say how many miles a car will last even if taken care of.Every car is different and every car is driven differently.I think 200K in an EVO would be possible.Who knows, there could be an EVO out there with 200K + still running strong.

If they buy the car from a dealer that would be almost impossible.

Well the only evo owner i actually know had his tranny replaced twice and auto-Xed the hell out of his evo so buying one from someone i know is out of the question. But id rather buy one from someone i knew rather than a mystery box evo from a dealership haha

just because a car has used its turbo doesnt mean it will break. Evo's are made to have the turbo spool a lot. Just depends how rough they are with it
