Quick question. I brought my car used. Not sure if I have jdm bov or stock bov. The one I have is metal and it has the number K5T09275 on top. How do I tell the difference. Thanks.

if its silver looking its the stock DV, i think the ones you listed are the same though

 

or better yet is it like a bronze color? my stock BOV is like bronze

sounds like you got stock bov, all IX came with jdm metal bovs, 8s came with plastic one, just dont change it, if you thinking about it.

and yes without a pic its hard to tell.

But I'm pretty certain it is just the stock IX DV.

 

It has a brass top and a steel looking base

 

its the usdm IX DV which is the same as the JDM "BOV"

not sure but do 2005 evo 8s come with the metal DV? I know that IX's came wih the metal and VIII's with the plastic but since 05 evos+ got the 10.5 hotside and 03-04 had 9.8 hotside...Do 05's come with the metal? I bought my 05 used and it had the metal DV but jsut want to know heh :P

 

I've heard about the hotside difference in 05+. Not sure about the DV. Possible your previous owner knew about how leaky the plastic VIII DVs were and swapped it out with the JDM.

 

what the main difference between my stock VIII DV and the IX DV?
Just holds more boost?
