Question Launching

Can someone clear this up for me:

i hear people say when launching the car they rev to ~ 5000rpm and "slip the clutch" ...define slip?

and other people said i should use the "2 step launch" - no not the dance!

anyone can clear this up for me? i know tuners just reset the stationary launch limiter from 5000 rpm to 6000rpm for better launches...

Thanks

slipping it is easing it out with your foot, whereas dumping it is just immediately removing your foot.

it means just dont release the clutch like doing a burnout- but also dont slip the stock clutch enough to burn it -

Have you tried searching? You know, the search button? There are a ton of threads on here about launching with and without a 2-step....how to slip the clutch etc.....bottom line it takes practice to learn how to launch your car with the mods and clutch you have.....

Good Luck....

rev up to your 2-step
when your letting your foot off the clutch, once you feel it grab/moving. let off and floor it

damn that was fast!

so set my stationary rev limiter at 5000rpm....good right?

then slip the clutch till i feel power...cool will need practice ...better practice than a new T-Case.

i have a stock clutch and well bone stock car any problems with doing this?

It is more difficult that it sounds. With the clutch pill installed, it'll be hard to cut a good launch or 60'. The car will bog if you don't time it right or you could burn the clutch. Got to do it just right.

You could practice (somewhere safe) by giving 1/2 to 3/4 throttle with the clutch in and first gear ready. Slowly let the clutch out, and a bit before the friction point, the car will start to go, let the clutch out quickly (don't dump it!) and floor it at the same time. Be ready to shift into 2nd. Be aware, you will KILL you stock clutch if you do this frequently. With the pill in the slave cylinder removed, you could cause serious TC damage. Just be careful and don't do it in a walmart parking lot like kids around my town do.

if ur clutch is soft its not gonna grab. i have the act 2600 and i adjusted to it in about a week. very easy to DD the car. just don't hold it down at red lights, it will make ur leg tired quick.

...and the local supermarket parking lots. During the summer, all the town ricers come out. They are mostly Tiburons, but there is one Mazdaspeed 6. They race up and down parking lots and act stupid around town "racing" each other. I believe a few people threw rocks at their cars. Ohh guess where their HQ is...Wendys!

Luckly, I have a fellow Evo owner in my neighbourhood.

i love it when kids launch their cars while at a stop light while then there is another red light just 300 feet ahead. but anyway just make sure you have the funds to buy a new clutch or tc because if anyhting goes wrong your f*cked. happy launching

i accidentally did a great launch merging onto highway 12 from an off street. i reved, let the clutch just start to engage, then, while still reving with the clutch "slipping", i let the clutch out full and nailed the gas to merge. the front end lifted and the car took off with the quickness of a cheetah. i was only about 3500-4000 rpms. no clutch smell. LOL.
