That sucks bro! Insurance will fix it like others said just use it. I live in NH and I hate snow. I do drive my EVO as a DD but I try to be careful every time it snows. Sometimes its just unavoidable.

I know everyone already said it is going to be expensive to fix, and I agree. But you might want to blur out your plate in those pix in case the state is looking for the person that broke their sever thousand dollar hydrant, as they will want either you or your insuracnce tpay for that to.

Sorry about the wreck, feel for you bro.

Bummer about your car. G/L with everything.
That only happens in Hollywood. Fire hydrants are designed to not allow water to flow if they are damaged. They have a pull string method that opens the water valve and if they are knocked down they will not "pull" the valve open.

I am having a hard time understanding...I drive regularly 15-20+ around corners, through bends etc, in the snow, in MA...and my evo sticks every time. Zero problems...Is my car a freak? I just assumed all evo's were this reliable.

Like i said before I typically love my evo in the snow. Mine is very drift happy such that the back end like to come out but the car usually has so much control. In my case the other day i was going down my street and i went around the corner and it came out. Going down my street is all downhill though so between that and the fact that i was driving on the right hand side of the road it made controlling the slide that much more impossible. I was just too close to the side to start with in the drift so my countersteer did not have enough time or room.

I finally figured out how to post the pictures in the original thread just in case anyone hasn't seen them. Hopefully i can get the insurance adjuster to check the car out sometime this week. Ill keep everyone updated and like i mentioned before if anyone local has a silver hood or bumper or anything else you think that could help me just send me a pm or something and that would be great. Thanks

The car was flat bedded to an auto body shop yesterday. I contacted my insurance company and they said an adjuster would be out in a couple of days to give an estimate on the damages. I am considering swapping my front with an evo 9 front bumper. I know it will fit. I believe i have seen some threads on this however is there anything whatsoever that needs to be modified to make it fit or any extra bolts or clips needed. The last thing i want to do is tell the guy that it will fit and have him run into problems making it fit. Thanks everyone for your help!

I was in Providence tonight and i pulled up next to a yellow evolution. I talked to the kid until the light turned green however when he took off I realized how much I miss my car. That was my first sighting of a yellow evolution and it looked hot!

i don't understand how you can lose control in that situation, and with winter tires, no less... eh...

either way, good luck with the repairs, man.

Thats why you don't buy cheap snow tires also making sure your alignment is perfect will help out.

Btw.. will the Op post what winter tires he was using? I want to avoid these like the plague.
