5-10 MPH and the hydrant got knocked over? Either they don't secure hydrants for crap in Mass, or you were going well over 5-10 MPH.
Here in TN, hydrants don't budge when impacted with MUCH MORE FORCE... I learned that the hard way.
"red fluid" sounds like power steering to me.

It seems like at least once every couple of weeks I see on the news out here that somebody hit a hydrant and it causes that huge fountain of water. I can't imagine what LA would be like if it snowed here. At least you had the snow to blame. People out here just can't drive.
Sorry bro, definitely go through insurance, it will be well over $4,000.00 in my opinion... if not more. And think about it... You pay for insurance for a reason. Use it.

Ya i understand that its going to be way more than $500. When i say i was going maybe 5-10mph im completely serious. The car had no response to any of my steering input and it went strait over the curb into the hydrant. I dont understand how it toppled over but i guess it doesnt take much with 3000lbs. Water did not shoot up or anything, thank god that would have just made things that much better *cough *cough*.

I have installed Michelin Pilot Sport something like that snow tires. I guess I should take advantage of this opportunity to fix up my front end with whatever i want. I have read of people replacing their rear bumper in an accident with a JDM one and such. Any ideas for me and how would i go about doing this?
