here's a question we ALL want answered!

This could be a personal question... if you feel this way then feel free not to respond haha

I come onto a TON of different forums A LOT! I see all my freinds with big turbo's, built motors even with some cosmetics involved. I also see them buying extra fuel pumps, TONS of gaskets, extra this extra that extra short blocks...

I'm sitting here, WONDERING, when the hell I'm going to get myself a friggin $100 fuel pump!

I have some mods yes, I'm buying $3000 worth of mods next month and it's ONLY BECAUSE I'M GETTING A REDBATE CHECK FROM SCHOOL! haha (and my taxes of course) and this is a HUGE deal to me! lol

I see threads started with people posting mods list the longer then the population list of Asia. I also see people randomly buying 35r's, or driving 7 hours for a tune, or just getting a tune, or blowing a motor then WAM suddenly you have another one, stroker motor, built.

I work full time, I am also a full time student. I can honestly say, I'm not doing to shabby financially.

HOW DO YOU GUYS DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! charge it? cash? Just college grads in a career?? WHAT THE CRAP IS IT!!!! I've been on various car forums for like 5 years now, since I was 16. I've never asked this question and it never made sense to me. My other forums were not even close to as humble as this one when someone buys a big turbo lol

(sorry for the long post.. I've wanted to ask this for so long haha)

Well, I don't smoke, drink, or do any kind of drugs, so my bad habits are gambling and modding cars. I also work roughly 70 hours/week. But sometimes the gambling helps ; ).

EXACTLY!

I don't want to go in debt at 21 because of a car... but I really want to know what it is! haha I'm practically obssesed with getting a car to have 500+ whp in my life time, BUT I DON"T WANT IT TO BE BEFORE THE WORLD STOPS USING GASOLINE! haha and I want to do it with an evo... no other car! By that time, it will be when evo's are like obsolete and become classics lol

For the normal non-shop owning group:

- They make plenty of money and can afford it

- Have rich families that give there lil-buckaroo everything he wants

- Credit card everything and worry about the debt later

- Save for years and just have plenty of cash laying around

- Illegal acts that make lots of non-taxable money on the side

- Credit Cards (repeat I know)

Thats my theory anyway

If I didnt have rent, school loans, car payment, insurance payment, gas bill, grocery bill, utilities, and all other items I have to pay for on my own.

I could afford to mod the **** out of the car making what I make.....unfortunetly I live in the real world where im not supported by anyone but me and I just do a little at a time and always look for great deals and just make it work.

no one supports me I just don't pay rent haha I live at home because full time school and work is a hefty plate. I have an agreement with my parents for me to give them my full check (i see after them putting me on 3 hockey teams a year for 20 year as well as my sister, some costing up to a grand each and all the other sports we did) they REALLY deserve it. They arn't rich, they jus cared a lot about what we wanted to do. I do get money back throughout the week... But the real world is creppin up on me haha

enough of that sappy stuff haha I STILL WANNA KNOW HOW! I wanna hear it from someone that has all these mods and extra money haha

I too also lurk on many forums. My two cents that I've noticed:

A lot of them are freeloading off their parents in one way or another. Either they're living at home (that's $500/mo. not going towards rent that can go towards mods), or their parents are pumping them with money in some other way: they may be paying for their schooling, paying for their insurance, gas money, etc.

Some of them are racking up the credit cards to buy these mods, their car is their priority and they may live in some ghetto cheap apartment/house so they can pay for their car.

Some exaggerate just how many mods and money they've put into their car.

Some can actually afford it. These guys are usually single and graduated from college.

But look at it this way. How many times have you heard "I'm selling my Evo because I can't afford the payments/insurance/gas/maintence or I'm buying a house/moving out and need to sell my Evo to free up some cash" ? Don't feel bad because a lot times they can't afford the car and all the mods and end up having to sell it.

These are just a few observations I've made through my many hours of forum lurking, it doesn't apply to just Evo owners.
