resonated is quieter and some say makes less whp. I personally never see any proof of that. I used resonated and straight. My opinion is, resonated is better since they are quieter.

i have a MR resonated test pipe and I hear a "buzzing" like sound coming from the exhaust, I'm assuming its from that. I'm curious to see what a non resonated test pipe sounds like.

I can hear my buddy's RX7 a LONG way down the road. It is hard to talk over at idle. He runs a straight test pipe. Some SR20 240s here with resonated test pipes are no louder than catbacks. Which do you think the police would be attracted to more?

I'm ordering a resonated test pipe at the advice of those who were scared running straight pipes.

I run a resonated TP with a catback that is rated under 93db. Very quiet compared to other evos. Still wakes up at WOT.

i'll tell you from experience... the resonator does very little to the noise level, just lowers the tone to reduce the drone.

Resonated definitely but it depends on how much your exhaust quiets things down as well. Resonator is a bit quieter than a test pipe. Made the exhaust on my car more tolerable when cruising and idling.

Im running the AMS TBE with the res. It is still quite loud, but i like the tone. I would get the resonated test.

Im running unresonated test pipe. My prosport headers > megan 02 housing > 3" dowpipe > unresonated test pipe > CBE.

Its pretty god damn loud, but I DGAF, cuz Im crazy. I drive a prius also maybe 1/2 the time. Ive been pulled over in the prius 2x in the past month. 0 in the Evo. I know its only a matter of time until I drive by a cop though, just for being as loud as I am its over. Time will tell.

Personally. WHP > Legal

lets just say if you want it to sound quiet you can drive it normally and it'll be quiet. I do it all the time.

My friend's ams setup we switch between the resonated and the non, for track days... it is loud anyways, but it is stupid loud without the resonator. Like I wouldn't want to drive it past a cop loud. Unless of course, you put it in 5th gear at 25mph
