how bad is it to try to "muff out" an evo

i started my evo to warm it up while i dust off the snow. i closed the driver door and then went to my back door to get out the brush and it was locked... all the doors were. i said wtf, so i went home and got the other remote for the doors to unlock it cuz i dont have another key. well it doesnt work if the keys r in the ignition. so, i decided to try to "muff out" the exhaust cuz i had a half tank of gas. i couldnt get it to work and i didnt want to hurt the car so i stopped. but i tried it twice for about 30 seconds, does anybody know if this is bad for the engine???

o and im going tomorow for another ****in key!!

yea im pretty sure its not good to block ur exaust to stall ur car but i don't know. if it is running if u can acess a floor jack u can get underneath it and pinch a fuel line or something. that sucks though man.. what iv been tought to do (cause i work at a dealer) is to always roll the window down atleast and inch if the car is running, cuase some cars auto lock n ****. i know its to late for that now but just a tip for the future

Couldn't you disconnect the crank position sensor next to the oil cap? I don't know what effect this'll have on a running engine but it will kill fuel injection.

Edit: Never mind. You probably don't have the hood unlatched considering you're locked out of the car!

Didn't you get 3 keys when you bought the Evo? or did you just get one and 2 remotes? I had 2 main keys, two remotes, and a gray (instead of black) vallet key...

I don't think the remote works even if the car is off if the key is in the ignition switch at all. Locksmith time (which, is who I would've called in the first place)
