something just seems odd...mustang guy wanting an evo??would this mean you would be sleeping on the left side of the bed?
dont get me wrong alot of them are fast..but not my cup of tea
i may be wrong about this so dont take it as true...but one of the techs at my job had one and got rid of it cuz theres some sort of "tickin" noise that happen when the heads are messed up?if anyone can clarify?again idk if its true

Mustangs are turds. I work on domestic cars all day, and no mustang no matter what year, build, spec, model will ever be as reliable as your Evo.
I'm sure the owner knows this and is so willing to trade.
The Evo is rated right now as the highest resale value sedan. The mustang is probably worth half that.

As soon as I saw this thread, I thought of that episode of Top Gear also. IMHO the Evo is a better DD that the Cobra. Plus the Evo responds well to mods and can be a formidable drag car.
600 whp is like tooooo easy to get in a cobra with little money.
I have a 2v supercharged mustang AND an Evo.
Both cars are a lot of fun in their own way.
I wouldn't agree that the mustang is badly built. After all, its making 440 whp (470 whp with race gas) on the stock shortblock, stock transmission, stock rear end, stock axles, etc. It has over 200 passes at the drag strip, runs low-11s at 126 mph, and is still completely streetable. I've doubled the whp from the factory, and it's taking it like a champ.
In a straight line, the stang wins. On a curvy road, the Evo wins. So its really a matter of what's more important to you.

03 and 04 Cobras mod easy like the evos. They come with 360-380 whp on a dynojet stock. If u can keep the evo and save up and get the cobra. I am seeing if i can keep my evo and that is going to be my next car is a 03 Cobra. with a coupl of mods u can get them to 450-460 whp and a lot of torq too at really low RPMS. Both are sick cars if u can get both u would have best of both worlds
