Dude, once again, just do it. If you seriously can't make up your mind about this get the Stang. This is a dumb question that should have never existed in your mind in the first place. Your Evo probably wants to get the hell out of your house for even questioning it. Like everyone else is saying, why would a COBRA guy want to trade you for your Evo???!!!

The 03's have been known to have a ticking in the head. If found under warrenty, ford replaced the head. 04's do not have this problem. As far as which one, totally up to you. I personally would take either car seeing that each has their respective strengths.

Cobra = cheep, buck-nasty horsepower

Evo = expensive, insane conering power

You'll have more pride driving an Evo and not another Mustang. Keep the Evo. If your still unsure, drive his Cobra and see how you like it.

You said that you love drag racing and havn't said anything about loving turns. If this is true then you belong in the Cobra. I don't know how anyone could compare a 10sec capable cobra to a 12sec evo to a guy who loves drag racing. If a dd is more important, you have kids you need to cart around, or love turns then the evo it is but from the info given so far. Trade it! The others talking about reliability simply don't know the truth about the 03-04 cobras. Those cars are very reliable when properly tuned and the rear (IRS) is properly braced. The engine has forged internals from the factory. After 30k miles I'm sure you would know it if the heads are making the ticking sound, if it hasn't done it by now then it doesn't have the defect. And at least ford would warranty it with no problems. Can't say that about mitsu can you. Have many evo owners had good luck getting mitsu to warranty transfer cases on 03-04 evo's? Every manufacturer of cars has its share of issues here and there. If you drive the stang and everything sounds and feels right then have it checked over by a tech and trade up. The main reason why I want an evo for myself is that I'm having kid #2 and like the turns as well as the drag racing. (well, and I'm an import tech)

If you do decide to go through with it, go into it with the expectation that you're going to be replacing something soon. _Sometimes_ buying stuff like that can just be buying someone elses headache.

If you do it and you're into drag racing swap the IRS out for a solid axle... wait that is half the reason for buying one. Keep the evo.

+1 the car has 600 hp and can be very enticing...but, with that much HP comes more responsibility and more headaches. I've driven a friends with 600+rwhp and the thing does nothing but spin tires....downright scary in wet roads. Fun as hell, but the car is a different animal than an evo. Evo's are fun and nimble, the mustang feels loose, big, and boat-like...but damn they can be monsters! If thats your thing then go for it.

I second Lancelots opinion. My 2cents? Keep the evo.

Ah honestly, Mustangs r cool but suck in anything other than nice weather... plus u r inheriting some1s project car. My .02 is to keep ur Evo. Something is amiss if hes trying to dump his cobra like that!
