evo ix brembo peeling?
I was able to get my dealership to replace mine, but you have to be patiently persistent. Stop using the wheel cleaner and just use car soap and water. I've found that using a wax pad as a sponge works really well for the wheels and the calipers. Wax doesn't hurt either.
I havent seen any problems with wheel cleaner, only brake fluid is what I've seen damage the brembos. My friend has a IX and his started to peel from the brake fluid and he took it back to the dealer and they replaced them. But just like everyone else said, if you do use wheel cleaner, just make sure you spray them off extra good.
had mine warrantied at 29k miles. Really, what happened was surprising; i asked for them (Naples Mitsu.) to "fix the problem" implying that i wouldn't fight a repair versus a replacement. Needless to say, they went ahead replaced the front set under warranty, surprisingly pleseat, absolutely no drama. I suspect that because is bone stock besides a Works St2 Clutch and fly, and the fact that I am completely obsessed with it's maintenance. They could use nothing other than straight BS to denie my claim.
The peeling was noticed after i had replaced my pads and rotors myself [dealer wanted nearly 1,800 for replacement of front and rear, pads and rotors. Quite the deal i thought. I purchase a 190.00 set of pads and rear at each corner - shipped. At that price, with a warranty for life against warpage, i can afford to readily replace them without really caring.]
So, after i put them on and take the beast in for some needed fluid maintenance, the tech - who's the same tech- the only tech thats works on evos- spotted the peeling, before me. I was like, WTF? this is an Evo IX....has mitsubishi done nothing to prevent this "flaw" from continuing into succedding models? if the IX, why not the X?
I felt used, until they were replaced them babies. Still, i felt my Evo ix become a little more fragile. This was the only car i've owned that went about 30k miles (27ish) without a single warranty claim. My only problem is a p0300 thrown only during extreme cold (extreme cold to this guy is like 40s, and im *****in')
It was disappointing, but now, I feel that my abuse is increasing. I do not drive recklessly, while yes, i do usually feel that 5mph over is very safe. Instead, when i'm mad/upset, or just tired, i lose ALL finense. It goes from comnfortable MR, to bucking bronco.
Anyhow you see what i am trying to say: its nearly bone stock, i treat it as bone stock- with the thought of that EXCELLENT WARRANTY in the back of my mind!
Get my drift?
ok nite
