I have a 2006 Evo IX MR and it came with the stock HIDs. I have already changed the stock halogen foglights to H11 HID 6000K and I love how they look. The problem is the aftermarket lights look so much better than the stock HIDs and I want to change the bulbs from the stock ones to match the aftermarket ones.
If I buy some eBay 6000K D2S HID bulbs will it work with the stock Evo IX ballasts that my stock HIDs are running off of? Has anyone done this? I tried searching but couldnt find anything useful.
I have 6000K Aftermarket HID lamps in my truck (highbeam/lowbeam/foglight) and it looks much better than the stock Evo HIDs. I love the look and color of 6000K.
I believe all I have to do here is change the bulbs just want to make sure everything is compatible first.
Thanks.

Yes, you can just buy bulbs. Be forewarned though (I don't know if you care) that the light output might be a little less with aftermarket higher temp. bulbs.

Yes I am very aware there is a slight difference in output between 6000 and 4300 stock. I have my car lowered than stock (2 inches) so I angled my headlights WAY up. Now I can use the full range of the adjuster. You can see much more when you do this, I barely ever get flashed at, maybe once in a rare while. I think the color of the stock bulbs is hideous. I have 3 sets of aftermarket 6000k's between 2 vehicles and I am in love with that color.

Ok, here is the truck, the lights are so much nicer than the stock evo ones...

6000K Rules!

The evo (these pics are in my other HID thread too but whatever)

I think part of me likes the reflector lights more than the projectors. When I drive my car I find myself wishing I had the "light-up'ed-ness" that the truck has.
I have these bada$$ projector fogs that fit in the evo lower 2 "hole spots". I haven't installed them in my car, but some people have been asking if there are foglights that fit down there. These do. The projector cutoff is way better than the stock evo lowbeam projectors in my honest opinion.
