Not sure your question. Maybe this'll help.
Front O2 sensor in O2 housing is needed for adjusting ECU fuel trims and such. Someone could probably elaborate on this better, but that's the gist.
Rear O2 sensor is a check for the cat's efficency. If it is malfunctioning or being spaced with a CEL fix, this doesn't affect ECU in any way. The sensor doesn't do anything, but create CELs.

Im not sure bud... i just didnt think people were understanding what you were asking so I thought Id make it more direct
I have been wondering this aswell..
but the price differences from Mitsu for the two leaves me to believe that it is not possible.. due to almost the double price fro the front vs the rear..
Someone post and answer this!!!!

The problem i see though is that the rear sensor actually costs more to replace than the front sensor (http://www.oxygensensors.com/catalog.php?&pkey=1423022) so why cut up a good rear sensor only to spend more money replacing it?
I'd just buy the front sensor.

Ohh now I understand.
I'm 99% sure the rear is not interchangeable with the front. I believe one member mentioned they are different Mitsu part numbers and do not cost the same. If you have extra front sensors, you can try to put one in the rear. It is worth a shot.
