I just spoke to my dad :(
ha, my uncle loaned his Evo VI (that I add me & my dad built for him) to one of his son's friends to go run an important errand for him & the kid (20-25yo) promptly hit like 3 cars & wrapped it around a pole. which eventually killed him. oh & i should add all this happened in jamaica.
drive an evo like an idoit & it will kill you. but I can think of no better car to drive in jamaica.
btw as far as your question goes, you already messed up. You should of said you just wanted a really expensive lancer with a body kit. you'd be driving one right now if you did
but seriously your dad needs to drive/ride in one to understand. nothing you could really say to convince him.

Yes sir I had a same post to that... But the thing is that I am working for my dad for a year now.. and he doesnt give me any salary.. like he would give me like 100usd a week. But this makes me so sad that I am working so hard and just want a evo IX. I can get my caldina sold for 31,000usd but I need 22,000 extra for a Evo IX.. the reason is because I live In jamaica and we are RHD so i need to ship one from Japan. I wish somebody out there could at least try to understand where i am coming from. trust me when you love something so much and all day you just dream to have that thing in your life.. But what can i say to my dad to convince more to make me buy me one?

Ok seriously. Tell him you understand his concern with not wanting to get you one and you respect his decision. Thank him for listening to your idea and act happy to not be getting one and I would be willing to bet that he will be considering it a little more seriously if not actually get you one. It is amazing how psychology works on the subconcious mind. Oh and you have to let it go for a while at that point. The more you try to convince him it's a good idea the more resolute he becomes in not wanting to get it for you.

I think its time you find a better paying job and just get it your self. Save up and sell your car. But you also have to think about insurance payments, and maintenance upkeep. I know its not really something you want to hear but you will have alot more pride in getting it yourself

If you can sell your Caldina for 31k than do it and get a loan. Your last post I wasn't sure exactly what your saying though. Does your Dad only pay you 100 dollars a week? If so see if you can find a job doing the same thing with someone that will pay you more. I understand your working for your Dad and don't want to upset him, but if this is something you really love than either get a better job and save up or get a loan.
Wasn't sure what a Caldina was, so I just looked it up and that is one DAMN nice car!!!

Might I suggest you get yourself a better paying job than one that involves some nepotism. If you are depending upon your father to buy your car then you are SOL. I understand that Jamaica's economy isn't the greatest, but necessity is the mother of invention.
[QUOTE=jesseandruth;5563400]was evo's even out 16 years ago?
Jesse, looks like u don't even own an EVO. If you are an enthusiast, you should do some research. You are most likely young and have no knowledge of Lancer Evolution, beyond the last 5 years or so.
To the OP. Obviously your dad knows the potential of the EVO. That factored with our drivers and some sub par J'can roads + poor lighting = trouble. You might as well resign yourself to enjoying the Caldina for a while yet.
You might not see it that way right now, but your dad is correct in having reservations about getting u the EVO.
Try re-visiting the subject in another year................oh and you should start putting some cash in the bank.
Remember, mother have, father have, blessed is the child........................

Don't be a dick, it was a valid question. And the answer was yes; barely. The first Evo was released in 1992, exactly 16 years ago.
Tell your Dad the DNA test results came back..........and say: "Your not my Daddy", tell him that you will squak if he won't let you buy an Evo. What are we supposed to do here for you?
