Welll guys, I will talk to him again on wenesday. It is like he wants to buy me one but at the same time he doesnt.. because of the evolution.. I cannot get another job.. because my dad wont like the idea.. and he needs the help in his business and we supply the whole of jamaica with soveniors and t-shirts and etcc so we are big wholesalers in a week i make 20,000 usd acutally my dad company does.. I am not worried about insurance or maintanecce... i will get through properly with that. But I just need to make him understand that the evo is a safe car? am i rite? or wrong? i just have to make couple of promises to him. I hope it works out for me. I live and dream for this machine. I have magazines and posters and i have couple of pictures of me drivingmy neighbour own.. it is a best car on the planet compared to handling and suspension and power and it is good for curvy roads.. it is driving so krazy. I have been asking my dad for four yrs now for a evolution the first one I asked him for is evolution VII... I begged alot, but now the IX is the one I want. Well i will talk to him again on wenesday and see what happens. any advice please drop it here on the fourm thanks.. and give me some advice what to say about the car safety. thanks.

This thread is making me sick. It's time to cut the cord and become your own man instead of worrying about what daddy is going to buy you. For god's sake, quit your whining and man up.

So I am asking you what else can i say to him to convince him to get me one. I am praying so hard that he gets me one. Need your advice thanks.
No offense to you but I have to say that your father has a good head on his shoulders. Most parents that let their kids drive Evo's are complete idiots because they have some money. They think they are putting their kid in a nice car because it has a $30k price tag but little do they realize that kids kill themselves every month in cars like that because they don't know how to drive them and one stupid act will end their lives. Until you live on your own and can buy the car YOURSELF then hold off, it will mean more in the end anyway. FYI the Evo is not a death trp but it is not a safe car by any means of the word SAFE!

Tell your dad that you work hard for him and dont ask for a lot. Tell him that you'll sell your current car and you'll pick up more hours for him. Show him that you are willing to EARN this car.

Btw, Jamaica is awesome. I was just there this summer where my wife and i got married.

Your brakes, suspension and performance equipment can be up to par but the car itself is a different animal. On IX's there are two front airbags and thats it. If you want a safe car then buy a 90s Volvo and call it a day. I thought I wanted an evo, and when my dad got one, I am scared as hell of it. Its too much of a car for our hormones.... I'll stick to pimpin in my red 1983 Buick LeSabre through college and then my dad will give me his IX. He only agreed to give me the IX in three years since I got a full scholarship to University of Florida for academics and I have enough credits to finish in three instead of four years. You got to work for your s*** man....

All in all man, be happy with what you have, being a car enthusiast and driving a Buick Lesabre blows....Be happy with your turboed car man, as for me I will learn how to handle my dad's car with more experience, its just something you have to recognize and accept, better driving comes with more experience.

It is a safe car.... I hit a telephone pole head on, and I made it out OK. Side impact ratings are not the best I heard. Look up crash test results, that should help. Any car is UNSAFE if there is an idiot behind the wheel...............respect it's power, and keep it safe on the streets.

I just was listening to a radio program about teen driving and fatalities. After much teen bashing a particular commentator stated that 25 years ago the US national teen deaths were around 8000. Last year they were 5000. Granted the cars are much safer with crumple engineering and air bags but there are many more teens driving now. Tell him you will wait until he decides you are ready for the car, but we need to buy the car now while you can still get a relatively new one. Not until you have taken a professional driving course (Trip to Skip Barber) will you be qualified to drive this serious driving machine. The car is way over the top for a young driver who hasn,t had extensive driver training.

I don't agree with this stuff you just wrote. Stats are cool though.

your dad has some wisdom! "don't drive the evo son. I'll get you this corolla or civic instead."

+1 on this one. If you really want it get a job and be responsible enough to pay for it. This way youle prove to your self and your dad that your not a little kid anymore. That's if youle find a job that can support your hobby.
