I just spoke to my dad :(
Hey man, I'm not trying to be rude here but you are 21, and should be able to get this ball rolling on your own. *IF* you are in a position where he is able to determine your ride for you (and some people are - school, finances etc) then respect his wishes and keep that meal ticket happy. If not, may just be time to take the plunge and start doing what you feel you want to do for you. Good luck.
Getting a used VI isn't a bad idea...I got to ride shotgun in one and it wass the ****.
If you're used to a Caldina then you're used to some fast driving, but trust me if you get the evo take your time.
For example, People pulling out on the main don't expect you to come as fast as you probably will be ...plus I'm tired of hearing people dying b/c of crazy driving and isht.
Your father is right to be cautious about getting you a fast(er) car..imagine what he'd feel like if you died or got seriously hurt.

If I was you, I would just save the money and get it yourself. If he is worried about the car being safe or what not, it does not matter. You can get hurt in any car. Get what you want and leave it at that.
I agree with your dad. My 19 year old wanted one and I was afraid that he was going to hurt himself so I decided on a Honda S2K. No matter how responsible or how many times you tell your dad that you won't be racing on the street, the simple fact is that you will and we know it and we don't want to be responsible for any tragedy. You are 21 yrs old so if you want it then you buy it on your own.
