Car starts, misfires and shuts off
Are you sure you are getting fuel?
Did you recently install something?
Hey, so i just got my 8 and i was moving it in my driveway.. car started up and ran fine.. i started to go down my driveway and all of a sudden the car like bogged, stuttered and shut off... I tried to start it again, it'll turn over but will backfire and run rough for a second then turn off again.. I checked the plugs.. they are black but not terrible... im getting spark to them, checked the HKS Twin fire and the red light is on and thats working, checked the meth kit and is not stuck on.. i need help asap. thanks for any input..
I hope you don't get stuck with a abused Evo.
V Pro is not a piggyback. It's a full stand alone.
Ok you say your getting spark. Is the fuel pump running? Do yo have fuel pressure? +1 on calling prior owner.
If it's "got to be something stupid.."
then it's out of gas. :-)

i think the pump is running.. i can keep the car going for like 5 sec.. by givng it gas.. when i break open the line going into the fuel rail its pressurized but only a little gas comes out..
Go back step by step everything you did or touched on the car the last time you drove it.
Everytime I have an issue it was because I changed something (normally in the ecu) and it had starting issues.

i didnt touch anything.. i just started it.. let it idle for a min.. went down my driveway to turn around and it sputtered and shut off and wont start again... like i said i can turn it over and give it gas to get it to run really rough for like 5s
1. check your timing belt, make sure it is in time
2. do a compression test
3. pull the upper IC pipe off the throttle body and see if there is any oil collecting on the throttle body or in the pipes at all.
report back.
oh, and as for the ECU, your sh^t out of luck asking for help from anyone here because the only people that can do anything with the HKS are authorized HKS dealers. you wont be able to access the tables, check the tune, or any of that stuff.

the ecu is working.. the green light is on and the orange one is blinking.. i pulled the ic pipes to see if the meth kit was stuck on and they are all dry with no meth or oil... and for compression im not pos. but with the way its turning over im guessing theres compression.. but i will get a tester tom and test and make sure...
