Question 2 batteries in 2 weeks

Ok guys need some more help. I had the stock battery in my car for 35k miles and it died on my dad the other week, so we think. No big deal I wanted a mini battery anyways. So I got one from ams, my dad installed it and everything was fine. one week later the mini battery is dead. he only stated the car 3 times and drive it around for at least 30 minutes each time. The car is kept in a garage so it never got too cold and he is sure he didnt leave any lights on or anything. is it possible i have a short somewhere or something that would cause the battery to either not charge or to drain slowly? once he jumps the car it runs fine. im sorry i dont have more information but im in italy now and wont be home for a month to look closer at the car and my dad is no mechanic lol.

yes take the alternator out and have it checked for free. Also, check your connectors maybe they are loose or corroded.

i would suspect the alternator as well, but it doesn't hurt to check the fuses, especially the one for the alternator. plus the fuses are far easier to check then taking the alternator out.

Make sure it is torqued down correctly. This is off of AMS's website:

"Small Batteries will fail if the posts are not torqued to 50 lb/in."

don't forget the alternator fuse is on the battery terminal. there are also fuses in the engine bay beside the battery, and more under the dash. i would check the fuses on the positive battery terminal first, then the ones beside the battery in the fuse box

btw, you dont have to take out the alternator for the store to check it. just get the car started and drive straight to the shop.
