Question about Evo IX

I got a question about the Evo IX, I currently have an SLK 320 Merc. I really like it but it just doesn't have the power I would like. I am thinking about trading it in for an Evo IX. My question is, is the Evo a good day to day driving car. I heard it doesn't have cruise control. Are there any other things that would make this car difficult to drive every day.

The longest distance I drive is about 200 miles every week / 2 weeks.

You can add cruise control to it if that's something you really want.

no cruise control like you said, its steering is very responsive (twitchy to some, perfect to others), and the front seats can be harsh on older backs if used for long periods of time. but, if you want an all season scare-the-****-out-of-you-fast car you'd be getting the right one.

As you feel that a lack of cruise control makes the car difficult to drive every day, you may want to consider something other than an Evo. Evos are street-legal racecars. They're loud and raw. No cruise control is the least of it. If you're not the kind of guy whose lizard gets juiced by sampling uncompromising performance, this car is not for you. Good luck.

Thank you very much, I have always really liked the Evo, when I test drove it I didn't even realize no cruise control. But I reading and that was a minor complaint. When I read the forums I heard that they are difficult on the clutch, how often would I need to replace the clutch? The one that I am looking at buying has 16000 miles on it would I need to replace it soon?

clutch life depends on how many cylinders you have.

I'm looking at evos too and it seems the clutch can last anywhere from 20k to 60k, depending on how it was driven.

So it's really a crap shoot unless the car you are looking at has just recently had another clutch installed.

Speaking of a daily driver....I have an Rs and I dont even have power windows. But driving the car is so addictive I seem to forget about creature comforts. You can try an e46 m3, but the Evo is more for a person looking for a street legal racecar that mom could drive

I drive an RS too and I put 20,000 miles on it before I got a radio, and I came from a Saab with heated seats and the whole 9 yards. It's definatley a fun daily driver, except for traffic

The evo is a really aggressive, its far from a luxury car. Its only purpose is to go fast!
I used mine as my daily driver. I drive about 200 miles a week.

I drive my 06 IX MR 120miles a day. 110 of it is highway and as for cruise if you just lay your foot on the gas it cruises at around 85 just right for me. 10 mths old with 34,000 on it. I drive hard and autocross and my clutch is still going strong.
I think its a great daily driver, and when I need to go it goooo's.
