Ticking just started about 2 weeks ago. No new install to atribute to. At idle I can not hear it. It starts only while driving at about 3k RPM and about 3lbs of boost while in 4th gear or so. Maybe I just can't hear it in lower gears and louder engine noise. Funny that it sounds louder with the windows up. Sounds like it is right at the firewall. I tried to hear it while parked and reving but it is not there. I can actually make it start and stop by driving and adjusting the throtlle between 3k and 3.5K. Starts at about 3k and by about 3.5K and as boost climbs I can't hear it any more. I still have stock injectors and it has never done this before. Does not seem to speed up with RPM stays pretty much the same rate. Does not sound like lifter tick to me, almost sounds kind of whispy. Checked my BOV for leaks. maybe could be the Apexi boost control controling pressure??? Seems to hold boost pressure just fine I changed the oil thinking that might be it but it had no effect at all. 5w30 Mobil1. I was going to run a can of SeaFoam and see if that clears it up. Any suggestions

yea could be your ebc, turn it off or disconnect it and see if it still makes the noise.

 

What all did you install?

 

does it start right away at that rpm or does the car have to warm up 1st? My 06 had a tick but it didnt start til the car was warmed up good.

 

 

Relay clicking. or exhaust leak.

 

Today I noticed that RPM is irrelavant. If I'm at 2k in 4th gear and hit 3lbs psi it starts with the ticking. Drives me nuts, and I can't duplicate during idle. so that kinda rules out exhaust leak right. Seems to be more centered around a boost issue??? any other suggestions???

I unpluged the EBC. The ticking is gone. That little solenoid is loud. It did not do that when I first put it in. It seems to be working fine though. Just annoying!!! Any ideas why it started doing that. Anyone else have an Apexi with this symptom???

I've never heard of that EBC making that kind of sound, but as long as you know what it is...should be fine. It's still working properly, yes?

My seats squeak, my dash creaks, and I have to tap my boost gauge whenever I park on a hill to get it to read anything. I love driving a rally car.
