Evo Windshield Change to Lancer?

I was Reading in the Weight Loss Thread and saw were someone posted last year that they had their Evo Windshield replaced with a regular Lancer one. Is this possible? Mine got split all the way across couple weeks ago and Mitsu wants $589 without install for a new Evo one. Ive called all the Glass Company's around here but they all want my Vin# and say they still have to go through Mitsu. No sense in having a Middle Man if i dont have to. Any help is Apreciated!!

I've been through this a couple years ago. The only way to get evo windshield is through the dealer and they are expensive. The lancer one is the same size and fit but the rearview mirror clip on thingy is different. In the end with me, it was still under $300 for the lancer one and that is what has been on my car since 04.

I just had mine replaced 2 months ago from a rock off a truck. I had them replace it with a Lancer and the fit was great (I have a E7). No problems what so ever. And I only paid $150, its good to know some people! I see you live in Miss, try calling Triumph Glass in B'ham, AL. They have a moble fleet and might be able to help. As far as weight lose, I dont think there is any. You can always go with Lexan, hehehehe.....

ya, we use regular Lancer shields, theres a national aftermarket body panel company called Keystone Crash Parts, see if you have one near you. I think our shop price was jsut over $100.

I seem to remember the marketing junk Mitsubishi put out claiming that the Evo windshield is thinner than the regular Lancer one, to save weight.

yes the EVO's windshield is lighter, but your wallet will be lighter too.

plus maybe the thicker lancer windshield might be more durable, and less prone to crack?
