Warrenty problem
hey guys, i need help.. i had a car accident 2 months ago my ix just came out from the body shop. the 2nd day my engine light came on and 3 lights of the tarmac, gravel, snow came on and stays there. i brought it to the dealer and have the check it out, they told me the cause of the problem is the aftermarket part the (exhaust header) was in there not the cause from the accident so they cant pay for the repair for me. i ask if i cant use my original warrenty they said no it wont work. guys, i didnt even know the exhaust header is aftermarket when i get the car from the dealeri thought it was bone stock.. the repair cost is 4800 do you think i have a chance to make the dealer where i bought the car to repair the damage?

Doesn't your body shop warranty their work? Take it up with them and see what happens?
And which dealer did you take the car to? I would assume you did not bring an Evo into a Lexus dealership for repairs.

the body shop that did my work was a dodge dealer.. then the engine light came on the dodge dealer told me to bring it to a mitsu dealer and have it check and the dodge dealer will pay for the work.. so i brought it to the mitsu dealer they found out the problem is not cause by the accident is cause by the aftermarket header.. the dodge dealer cant pay for the work because its not cause from the accident. they said they only cover anything if its cause from the accident.. so the only option i have right now is go for the dealer where i get the car at (the lexus dealer).. wondering if lexus can do anything for me... or what should i do? thanks guys

I know it may be a pain in the a$$ but try to find a different mitsu dealer. There have been reports like this that some dealers are refusing to work on cars that have any mods on them. The dealership here in Newport News VA is actually pretty good. Billy Sims (mitsubishi maint supervisor) is an awesome guy to deal with and he has even stated to me that the warranty on the whole vehicle can't be void just to warranty for the parts that have been replaced by aftermarket parts. Sounds to me like you have a legitimate complaint with Mitsu corporate, but then again so do most of us! LOL If you decide to bring it down here to ask Billy about it then let me know and I will see if I can't help in any way.
