I ran out of gas before had to walk 10 blocks to a gas station. I forgot I was low on gas. Learned my lesson the hard way.

We have BEEN on topic, if you want to suck that crap up through your injectors and then into your engine, go ahead and do it. I just hope you aren't out boosting that **** into your combustion chambers.

People always say running low kills your fuel pump but I have not had that experience. I almost always run around with my car below 1/8 tank and have on many many occasions had it go half way into the letter "E" ---- this is about as low as you can go before you run out. Once you get this low you can fill up with 14.2 gallons or so, neat trick for a 14 gallon tank.

If you think thats bad then I don't know what you'll make of my friend mike. I have never been in his car when the low level light was not on. And this doesn't mean he drivers slow whenever the light is on, he drives full throttle pretty much all the time and has never killed a fuel pump. I think that whole dirt and water and the bottom of the tank thing is a bit of a myth.

Dudical, I agree. I'm on the stock IX pump and my car rarely has more than 1/4 of a tank in it, although I do stop WOT shortly after the light comes on J.I.C. If not having your tank full caused corrosion problems then every car would have that problem because they are only actually full when your just fill them up.

Maybe old cars used to corrode but I think new cars are fine, but I can't say without really opening up the gas tank to look.

I go WOT until it nearly runs out and still no problems (knock on wood).

Calm down dude. I was talking about myself staying on topic. Since the title was "how low you can drive before you run out of gas" and I said drain the tank. Hence me saying "back on topic" and no i dont boost when my gas is that low. I was trying to make it to point B so no boosting if i wanted to get there. But like i said i usually drain the tank but i was just replying to the thread.
