I have it on my stock evo 8 as well. Only got 23k miles on it and occasionally i hear it. It comes and goes i have no idea what it is. I've never noticed it on turns though. Everything in the car feels fine. I don't feel anything shaking or knocking while i shift and drive.

Does it sound like an engine noise or a suspension noise cuz the evo is a noise *****, get used to it as your car gets older.

I have been having the same sound now. Anyone know what it could be? I know its not a wheel bearing or axle as I have new DSS stage 5 axles with the new hubs on them. It sounds like the rear diff. I am also saying that because if Its louder as you turn (one axle turning faster than the other) the gears on the inside of the diff are going to turn at different speeds.

So if you have had this and fixed it, did it just need new fluid or what did you do to get it fixed?

Thanks

Check the belt tensioners. I had a timing belt ten. go bad in my wrx and it sounded like a rod knocking at real low rpm and then would go away. It had an oil dampner with a blown seal.
