Evo IX key programming!
http://www.programyourremote.com/cla...yAd.asp?id=987 - That link shows the same instructions on how to program to the remote.
Here's the instructions that found if you want to program the transponder chip on the immobilizer key. So it seems as if we do need two keys here.
1. Insert the first valid key into the ignition and turn the ignition
to the "ON" position for 5 seconds.
2. Turn the ignition to the "OFF" position and remove the first key.
3. Insert the second valid key and switch the ignition to the "ON"
position within 7 seconds. Theft-alarm indicator will blink twice.
Turn the ignition to the "OFF" position and remove the second
key.
4. Insert a blank (transponder) key, specially cut for your vehicle
into the ignition and switch the ignition to the "ON" position
within 7 seconds.
The theft-alarm indicator will come on for about 3 seconds when
the registration is completed.
If an error occurs, the indicator will blink 3 times.
5. If you want to register additional keys, repeat step 4 within 30
seconds after the theft-alarm indicator flashes in step 3.
Next option that we have if we don't have 2 master keys, is to either bring it to the Dealership or local locksmith. I'm reading somewhere that Ace Hardware has the ability to program Mitsubishi chip keys. So I'll report back once I get my new blank key sent to me. I'm trying to avoid paying $100+ just to get something program here, so I'll keep you guys updated on our options.to the "ON" position for 5 seconds.

Just a FYI, I ordered a Keyport key set. So it's not an OEM blank key. http://mykeyport.com/
yes this is correct.
I'm trying to program the Key/Immobilizer here. Not the remote. Upon some further searching I think the instructions written above are for programming the remote instead of the keys.

I attempted the process for programming the key remote with no success. Once the key is in and wire connecting pin 1 and 4 I press the hazards only 3 times and the doors lock and unlock automatically, not when pressed 6 times. I continue with the process as normal but nothing seems to work.
Anyone else seen this behavior, Thanks.

Just wanted to note that I had fixed the issue and I wasn't able to program it because the white box on the key ignition was broke and the door would chime without the key in the ignition. Once I fixed that I was successfully able to program, so just in case someone else has troubles programming it make sure you don't have that other issue as well.
