Shifting question..

..I'll be attending an event that envolves a short Autox followed by a 1/4 mile segment, on an Evo with Cat Back no tuning, which would be the best RPM time to shift during the 1/4 mile part? (from first to second and third gears)

Thanks

Andres

A dyno graph will answer that for you. No cams, I'd say 6800-7100

with different mods everyone has their own shifting point which is great for them.....when you get on the track try shifting at redline and then work your way down until you get the right spot.....

as said above with a dyno graph then we could better determine a shifting point for you....

why not shift right before boost taper?

before I got tuned mine tapered around high 6 to 7k rpm, it just never felt strong it had that annoying hesitation. since my tune and mbc that's no longer an issue and my rpm was raised and peak hp is almost spot on 7k falling off around 7,200.

If he doesn't have a tune wouldn't he be better off shifting right after peak hp and before the taper? Educate me, I'm not a drag race guy. I just autocross and track day alot.
