Funny you ask, i just spent the weekend cleaning the underside of my car (I know, Im obsessed).

To clean up most of the metal, i used a chrome wheel cleaner, its acidic, so you gotta be careful. I let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes then washed it off thoroughly, ill have to upload some pics, really cleaned up nice

As for the exhaust, its a different type of metal, i dont think its cleanable.

Steel wool and then mothers polish.

Eagle One or Mothers MAG & Aluminum Polish. Put a little bit of the polish on a cloth and rub it, w/ a swirling motion. The polish will turn black. Then wipe it off with a swirling motion. Repeat until it glistens like new.

This also works well for exhaust tips and other metal items. It will put a nice finish on just about any unfinished metal, provided the time and patience.

if the chemicals wont work for you try some 0000 steel wool, the real fine stuff. i have used it on a couple SS exhaust systems and worked perfect. wont scratch it and after some polish it will look like new.

I had the same prob with a SS header on my last car, I ended up taking it off and wet sanding from rough to about 1500 grit sandpaper then used mothers to polish at the end, worked wonders!

this is what I did also but on my factory exhaust tip, plus at the end I used mothers mag cleaner for the final buff, it now looks brand new.

make sure you wet sand, not dry sand when using the sand paper.

Will this work on the entire exhaust system? Also, how do you stop it from Corroding again? Its very unsightly.
